To be eligible for admission to M.A Oriental Studies - Islamic Studies at RUB Uni, applicants must meet specific academic and language requirements.

Academic Eligibility:

• a completed B.A. degree in Oriental Studies / Islamic Studies or a closely related subject (Middle East studies, Arabic studies, Asian studies, etc.) with a focus on Islamic studies in scope of at least 71 CP.
• Proof of advanced-level Arabic skills that are comparable to the knowledge after completing language course module 2 in the B.A. course in Oriental Studies / Islamic Studies and at least basic knowledge of a second Oriental language comparable to the module “Second Islamic Cultural Language”.
• Participation in an obligatory counseling interview, which is carried out by the academic advisor course advisors at the institute before the start of the course.
• Furthermore, proof of the Latinum or Graecum or Hebraicum is required. This proof must be provided until admission to the M.A. thesis. Knowledge of English is required and French, insofar as they are necessary to understand the specialist literature. For certain knowledge of Spanish or Greek is recommended.

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Knowledge of English at least at level B2
• Knowledge of a second Islamic cultural language at level A2 (Turkish, Persian)
