Colleges Where I Was Accepted

Reason for choosing my college

I chose Saarland University over the mentioned universities because it is renowned for its computer science courses. I searched on Google and even asked people on LinkedIn to verify my decision.

Colleges Where I Was Rejected

Reason for Rejection

The reason I was rejected from these colleges was that the university where I did my bachelor's did not cover all the subjects that were kind of compulsory for admission to a master's degree.

Required Exams for Admission

Tips to enhance your application

It is not a compulsion, but work experience and research papers kind of enhance the application. GRE is also an added advantage. Write good SOPs and write them on your own. You can always take help, but make it yours.

Admission Experience

  1. I choose Germany over any other country because, firstly, I learned the language as part of my extracurricular course in my graduation degree, and secondly, because of free education in public universities.
  2. Germany is widely known for its scientific advancements and even better career options in the research and development department, which was another reason for me to pursue my master's from here.
  3. Saarland is the warmest part of the country, so winters are not harsh here. The surroundings are clean and nice.
  4. As for full-time career options, I wouldn't recommend this place; Frankfurt and Berlin are better options, as a lot of the facilities are available in those big cities.
  5. While studying, one can find a job on HiWis or work in the city.

Class Schedule

10

  1. It depends on the courses you have taken. There are two options for it: the advanced course (one class per week) and the Core course (2 classes per week), It can vary from 8 AM to 8 PM.
  2. If the course is popular, then around 300-400 students, but minimum 5-10. Honestly, many Indian students. The amount of self-study depends from person to person.

Faculty

10

There are tutors that one can reach out to if there's any issue, which is usually one tutor to 25/30 students. Even less in some cases. Hands down, HCI; the course is so well structured. Even the assignments and sample end-term exam papers. They provide everything very timely.

Campus Life

10

There are two campuses, but most studies take place in the main Saarbrücken one. There are 3-4 libraries (I think), a Sports Center, an administration office, etc. ZIS usually conducts various activities for students

Part Time Jobs

Most students prefer working as RA's in university because it is very flexible and also enhances their skills. I can't give you the pay information. It is not that difficult; almost everyone around me found a job by the end of 1st  or 2nd  sem.

The maximum a student can work weekly is 20 hours in the semester and 40 hours in the semester break. One can easily find RA jobs if they have some work experience, otherwise, also, if they have some skill, they can grab the opportunity.

Placement

10

I have still not discovered that side of the job market as I'm still studying, so I can't give detailed information about it. Usually, people apply through LinkedIn, Indeed, and other online platforms.

It is a bit tough, but if you have a group of people, then it is still easy to find places. Search on WG-gesucht; it kind of helps a lot. You can also mail the university to check if there are any dorms available on campus.
