Having a chance to get interact with European culture with many European colleagues has helped me to build and develop a better character and adoptability.
Course Curriculum
I can not comment much on this, as I have already done with my PhD and one postdoc. When I was a masters student, the course syllabus was pretty vast which helped me to clear all the national level competitive exams and later helped me to earn a good PhD degree.
Exams
After completion of my PhD, I have applied for the postdoc position through email by contacting the professor directly. After giving him an interview, I was offered the postdoc position. In my CV, I have added my work experience which I gained during my PhD, the work skills which are subjected to my research, my personal skills to deal with research, my publications, conference attended etc. In the interview, I was mostly asked about my PhD work. Yes, I had interviewed by my professor for the postdoc post, where he mostly asked about my in depth knowledge on the specific research topic which I have done in my PhD and some questions on the topic which was carried out in his lab.
Placement
I have no idea on this, as I never applied for a industry job. My main aim is for academic post and continue my research.
Internship
No. Though I visited the University of Heidelberg during my PhD and spent their three semesters. I got this opportunity by the German DAAD fellowship.
Fees
For PhD and postdoc I did not pay anything.
Scholarship
I got postdoctoral salary, 52800 euro per annum.
Faculty
I have spent multiple years now in academics and education, from Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Heidelberg to Saarland. The faculty to student ratio varies from place to place and time. There are numerous professors who has substantial effect on my persona, mainly my PhD PI Prof. G. Rajaraman from IIT Bombay.
Campus Life
It depends on which place you are staying, for example- during my postdoc in Germany, it was not much happening in the campus life and extracurricular sense, but IIT Bombay has a very vibrant campus life during my PhD with Asia largest cultural fest Mood Indigo etc.
Hostel
Accommodation in abroad is bit difficult to find out, and most people struggle in the initial days, as the culture is very different compared to India. But slowly they get into it and life seems pretty smooth after a couple of months.
