Bright side of studies in Germany

I have only applied to TUM as it is the top 1 university in Germany. I have received admission to different courses in TUM. I was not rejected from any college, as I didn't apply for any other colleges. As I didnt apply for any other colleges, I have no idea about this, but what I heard from my friends is that they prefer practical experiences (like internships or job experience) for masters and also with a good cgpa (between 1.0 and 2.5 in german grading system) It is a top-tier college and also in the top 25 universities in the QS ranking. I applied through the TUM website and then they asked me to submit a scientific essay while applying and after that I was called for an interview, and I have received the admission. I believe any college in germany mostly depends on CGPA basis; if you have a good CGPA, you will be able to secure admission to public universities. I have only written IELTS exam and my score was 7.5 , i believe 6.5 is the minimum score required The overall admission process is very clear and transparent and if you need an update, you can also email them and they will also respond most of the time. The challenge might be that due to bureaucracy the process needs to be started very early for example in feb or mar for the october intake. It was october 2022 intake and like, I would say, since there is no tuition fee and you live in one of the best economies in europe so probably better chance of getting a job It took around 6 months to complete the whole admisison process but it took more than 5 months for the whole visa process which definitely affected my arrival so I have missed the first....Read More

I had applied to 7 Universities. Admitted: Arizona State University, Technical University of Munich, RWTH Aachen, Delft University of Technology Rejected: NYU, UPenn, USC I think I got rejected because of my CGPA. It was only 8.13 which is quite low for these Universities. I also think I did not have a clear picture of what I wanted to research. Initially I was thinking about Computer Vision, but then in university I fell in love with NLP which shows that I did not quite have my thought process ironed out when I applied. I chose this university because: It is one of the best universities in the world, consistently ranking in the top 30 in all the top rankings. While name and rank alone do not matter, it sure is better to study in a place that the wider world respects. German education and Engineering is world famous, and I wanted to immerse myself in that culture of getting things done. The main reason why I chose TUM was because I did not need to take expensive loans just to complete my education. Admission Process: GRE: Compulsory; they checked only the Quantitative Reasoning section, requiring a minimum of 165. TOEFL: Accepted with a minimum of 90 in the iBT. Other exams: GATE was also accepted, although I did not apply through GATE. While this process has changed in the past years, I will highlight the process that I followed. I had to submit my exam details (GRE, TOEFL), a Motivation Letter, a detailed analysis of the course I took as part of my Bachelor's, and a scientific essay on one of the given topics. I had to submit the original transcripts (I obtained multiple from my University) to UniAssist, and they converted my scores to the German scale. I think I submitted that along with my syllabus. The challenge was that certain things had to be sent by mail, which was quite a hassle and was a bit expensive, as I had to opt for fast delivery. I applied to the 2022 intake. I always wanted to pursue my master's, and it seemed like the right time to do so, as I had some money saved up and also had 3 years of work experience. I had given my TOEFL and GRE in November 2020, while I started applying for universities in 2021. I chose this country because education is free in Germany in public universities, and there is only a small semester contribution that we have to give. TUM is one of the highest-ranking universities in the world and 1st in Germany. TUM receives huge funding from the private sector and the government, so there are very good research opportunities. I am studying Information systems (the English translation of my course would be this), and its course structure is really good as with theoretical there are also practicals. There are many different programs; mine specifically is in English and German, 70 per cent German and 30 per cent English. Bachelor's courses are generally in German, and master's courses are generally in English. Location is also really good as Munich is the capital of Bavaria and here companies like BMW originated, so there are many opportunities in the automobile sector. Munich is also English-friendly. Overall, academics are really good; extracurricular activities are not much there, and there are parties like semester opening parties and others. There is not much time for these activities from a university perspective, but there are many chances from a life perspective....Read More

Deciding to pursue my Master's at TUM was the best decision I ever made. Not only am I provided with a world-class education and academic infrastructure, but I am also provided with invaluable personal growth opportunities. I am proud to be part of the diverse and inclusive student community. I have made efforts to participate in and volunteer for the various clubs and events at the university that have provided me with an opportunity to meet like-minded students as well as interact with the esteemed professors. I would say that TUM is a top tier university and can be compared to MIT standards. The engineering students here are one of the best brains on the planet and therefore it is very tough to compete the engineering courses here. However the School of management is not as difficult as compared to engineering school. However one should not take it lightly. The faculty here are very experienced and have very good English skills. Most of the people here in the Uni can speak English and therefore it becomes easier for international students. There is also a buddy program for new students which can help them get to know about the Uni and the course better....Read More

I prepared for the admission myself. Prepared SOP (Letter of Motivation), Essays by taking help from the internet but for checking and enhancing grammar I opened a paid account on Grammarly. All the relevant information on the application process can be found on TUM's informatics webpage (or simply by googling). If there is any help that a potential applicant needs, then he can simply mail the university (studium(at)tum.de). Though they may take a while they always do reply. Even when I had trouble during my applications, I contacted them at the same email address. Otherwise, if there is a document that is not in the correct format, the admission department always informs you and is ready to help....Read More
