Course Curriculum

10

The course curriculum is amazing. There are a wide range of courses to choose from both from Physics and also cross-faculty courses. Yes, I got a lot of opportunities to work there in different research groups. I am a Theoretical Particle Physicist but I also wanted to work in Experimental Particle Physics just to get the experience. So, I mailed Prof. Erika Garutti and she was kind enough to give me the opportunity to work as a part of their CMS group in Pixel Detectors. I also did HiWi mini-job) Job under Prof. Oliver Gerberding. I was working on SpicyPy which is used for Signal Processing and Control Systems and is mainly used for Gravitational Wave Detection/Analysis. Currently I'm doing my Thesis on Extended Higgs Models.

Faculty

10

The faculty to student ratio is good enough. I can't say any numbers as I'm not sure but experience is amazing so speaking from that. There are many Professors who left an incredible impact on me so can't name one. It would be unfair.

Campus Life

10

Campus life is very active. There are many student Groups and they are very active. The infrastructure is amazing. Regarding libraries I always found the boom that I wanted and there a lot of places to study as well as one can book a room for group meetings or assignment groups to work on the exercise sheets. There's WiFi everywhere on the campus. For sports one can register themselves in Hochschule Sport and there they get of options, be it dancing or football or some excursion.

Placement

10

I have no idea about the placement process as I'm mostly focused on doing a PhD there after my Masters so I only have the idea of the salary for PhD students. Normally PhD students get a max of 75% contract and in that you can expect a net salary of €2000-€2200 per month ( Gross Salary of around €4000). By 75% I mean that when there's a 100 % contract you are supposed to work 160 hours per month, so 75% of that. It usually varies from 50%-75%.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

I live in a studierenwerk dorm. The rooms are amazing. We get a student community and also friends for life. There's Gym, indoor football and basketball court all included in the dorm. The rooms are big enough and the kitchen and washroom is shared. One can also apply for a 1 room or 2 room apartment but the waiting time is longer than the normal rooms. Overall the dorm is very comfortable. It's just that the waiting time is long so one has to wait atleast 2 semesters to get in one of the dorms.

Exams

I didn't take any Standardized Test. I did my B.Sc. at St. Xavier's Mumbai so I got a letter from Xavier's mentioning that my degree was completely in English. For SOP one should be clear about his/her goal. You should mention your experience and how this experience will help you towards achieving your goal. CV should be crisp and clear. Don't put extra unnecessary information. For LOR you should contact you Profs and be careful about the deadlines, so you should give at least 6 weeks to your Professor to write the LOR.
