TS PGLCET 2026 Tie-Breaking Rule

When two candidates score the same total marks, the one with higher marks in Part A (Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law) gets a better rank. Part A score is the first tie-breaker because it covers the foundational subjects every law graduate must know. If the tie still persists after comparing Part A scores, the older candidate in terms of age gets the higher rank.

Candidates who score below the minimum qualifying marks (25% for General/OBC — 30 marks out of 120) will not be assigned a rank, even if their name appears in the result data.

  • The university or college must be a UGC-recognised institution
  • Candidates in the final year of their LLB/BL degree can apply provisionally, but they must produce the final degree certificate at the time of counselling without fail

Minimum Marks Required in LLB/BL Degree

General / OBC (UR / BC) 45%
SC / ST 40%
Persons with Disability (PH) 40%

Candidates who apply provisionally (awaiting final LLB result) must produce their qualifying degree marksheet at the time of counselling. If they fail to do so, their seat allotment will be cancelled and the counselling fee will not be refunded.

TS PGLCET 2026 Answer Key

The TS PGLCET 2026 provisional answer key was released on May 23, 2026 — five days after the exam. Candidates could raise objections against any answer they found incorrect within the specified deadline. The result and rank list were computed entirely on the basis of this final answer key.

How to Download TS PGLCET Answer Key

  • Visit lawcet.tgche.ac.in
  • Look for the "Answer Key" or "Final Answer Key" link on the homepage
  • Click the link to download the answer key PDF — no login credentials are required

Answer Key Objection Process

Candidates who found discrepancies in the provisional answer key could submit objections through the official portal within approximately 5 days of the provisional release. TGCHE reviewed all challenges, and where objections were found valid, the answer key was corrected. No fee was charged for raising objections in TS PGLCET.

Once the final answer key is published along with the result, no further challenges are considered. The final answer key is binding and is used as the basis for the rank list, merit list, and counselling process.

TS PGLCET 2026 Marks vs Rank

The marks vs rank relationship in TS PGLCET tells you how your score translates into a rank and, ultimately, what college you can expect during counselling. With around 4,000–5,000 candidates appearing each year and about 758 seats available, the competition is moderate. Comparing 2025 data: Rank 1 required just 76 out of 120 marks. You do not need an exceptionally high score to finish in the top 50 — consistent preparation is enough.

TS PGLCET 2025 Toppers — Marks and Ranks

Rank Candidate Name Marks Scored (out of 120)
Rank 1 Peri Bala Sai Vishnu Vardhan 76
Rank 2 Potluri Abineet Jason 70
Rank 3 Naman Sinha 67

Expected TS PGLCET 2026 Marks vs Rank Analysis

The actual 2026 marks-vs-rank data will only be confirmed after counselling concludes. Based on 2025 trends, here is an approximate projection for TS PGLCET 2026:

Marks Range (out of 120) Expected Rank Range Likely Admission Prospects
70 – 120 1 – 50 Postgraduate College of Law, Osmania University (top government seats)
60 – 69 51 – 150 University College of Law, Kakatiya University and other government law departments

40 – 49 301 – 500 Most participating private affiliated law colleges
30 – 39 501 – 758 Qualifying rank; lower preference private colleges (subject to seat availability)

These are estimated projections based on 2025 trends. The difficulty of the paper and total number of qualifying candidates affect the actual rank cut-off each year. Actual TS PGLCET 2026 marks-vs-rank data will be confirmed during and after counselling.

TS PGLCET 2026 Cutoff

There are two types of cutoffs in TS PGLCET. The first is the qualifying cutoff — the minimum marks needed to be assigned a rank. The second is the admission cutoff — the closing rank at which the last seat was filled at each college during counselling. The qualifying cutoff is fixed by TGCHE each year. The college-wise admission cutoff changes based on seat availability and candidate preferences.

TS PGLCET Qualifying Cutoff — Category-wise

Category Qualifying Marks Marks Required (out of 120)
General / OBC (UR / BC) 25% of total marks 30 marks

TS PGLCET 2026 Counselling Process

TS PGLCET 2026 counselling is an online, centralised process by which qualified candidates are allotted LLM seats based on rank, category, and web options (college preferences) filled by them. It is conducted by TGCHE at lawcetadm.tgche.ac.in.

Based on the 2025 pattern — where counselling registration began on August 4, 2025 — the 2026 process is expected to start around August 2026 and conclude by November 2026 across two phases. The detailed schedule is expected to be announced by TGCHE by late June 2026.

TS PGLCET Counselling — Two Phases

  • Phase 1: The main round. Includes registration, document verification, web options (choice filling), provisional seat allotment, and college reporting. Covers most available seats.

Top Colleges Accepting TS PGLCET 2026

Around 21 law colleges and university departments across Telangana participate in TS PGLCET 2026 for LLM admissions. They together offer approximately 758 LLM seats. Government university law departments are the most competitive — they have a strong academic reputation, lower fees, and top-ranked faculties. Private affiliated colleges are easier to get into but seat availability and intake vary.

You should know that NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad — one of India’s top-ranked national law universities — does NOT participate in TS PGLCET. NALSAR uses the CLAT PG score for LLM admissions. Similarly, the University of Hyderabad (Central University) Law School has its own separate entrance test. These two institutions are outside the TS PGLCET system entirely, but for all other LLM seats in Telangana, TS PGLCET is the gateway.

Government Law Colleges Accepting TS PGLCET 2026

College Name University Location Type

TS PGLCET 2026 Preparation Tips

TS PGLCET 2026 has been conducted. Candidates preparing for the 2027 cycle — or reviewing this year’s performance — will find these tips practical. The exam tests 6 core law subjects across 120 MCQs in 90 minutes. Speed, subject coverage, and accuracy together determine your rank. Here is what you should focus on:

Subject-wise Preparation Strategy

  • Jurisprudence: This forms Part A and is the tie-breaker — invest extra preparation time here. Study all major schools (Natural Law, Analytical, Sociological, Realist) and understand core legal concepts (rights, duties, ownership, legal personality) in depth. V.D. Mahajan or Salmond and Fitzgerald work well for MCQ-level preparation.
  • Constitutional Law: Questions often name a landmark case and ask for the ruling. Focus on Kesavananda Bharati (Basic Structure), Maneka Gandhi (expanded Article 21), Minerva Mills, and Golaknath. Know all Article numbers for Fundamental Rights, DPSPs, and Emergency provisions by heart.
  • Public International Law: Study Vienna Convention on Law of Treaties, the sources listed in Article 38 of the ICJ Statute, and the UN Charter in detail. Human rights instruments (UDHR, ICCPR, ICESCR) and Peaceful Settlement methods also appear regularly.
  • Business / Corporate Laws: Companies Act 2013 — types of companies, Director duties, Board meeting rules — is the most tested area. Indian Contract Act basics, Negotiable Instruments definitions, and Consumer Protection Act 2019 amendments also appear often.
  • Labour Law: This subject tests specific statutory provisions. Know the key definitions, thresholds, and penalties in each Act — Industrial Disputes Act, Factories Act, Minimum Wages Act, ESI Act, PF Act. Practise with MCQ sets on Labour Law as this is highly fact-based.
  • Crimes and Torts: IPC General Exceptions (Chapter IV) and offences against the body (Sections 299–358) are high-priority areas. For Torts: Donoghue v Stevenson (negligence), Rylands v Fletcher (strict liability), and M.C. Mehta cases (absolute liability) are frequently tested.

General Strategy for TS PGLCET

  • Since there is no negative marking, attempt all 120 questions without exception. Every unanswered question is a wasted opportunity.
  • Solve Part A (Jurisprudence and Constitutional Law) first in the exam — it is the tie-breaker, and you want maximum marks here before moving to Part B.
  • In 2025, Rank 1 required only 76 marks. Scoring 70+ puts you in the top 50 — well within reach of the best government colleges with focused preparation.
  • Practise with previous year TS PGLCET papers. TGCHE makes practice tests available on lawcet.tgche.ac.in — use them to get familiar with the CBT interface.
  • Allocate about 45 seconds per question. If a question takes too long, mark it for review and move on — return to it at the end.
