The OET exam fee in India 2026 is AUD $587 (around ₹31,575) for the full test covering all 4 sub-tests. Single sub-test rebooking costs AUD $315 (around ₹21,500) on paper-based OET only. The OET fee is the same across all 12 healthcare professions and all Indian cities.

Apart from the registration fee, OET charges add-on fees for rescheduling, cancellation, score re-marking and other services. The table below shows the full OET fee structure for India 2026.

OET fees in India are calculated in AUD. Your final INR amount depends on the live exchange rate when your card is charged. The INR equivalent has climbed in 2026 because the AUD-INR rate is around ₹54 (up from ₹50 in 2023).

What is the OET exam fee in Kerala for 2026?

The OET exam fee in Kerala is AUD $587 (around ₹40,000. The OET fee in India is the same across all cities. What you pay in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram or Kozhikode is identical to Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru. Kerala has the highest concentration of OET candidates in India because of the large nursing diaspora targeting the UK and Australia.

What are the OET fee payment methods available in India?

OET accepts only credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) through the myOET portal. UPI, net banking and bank transfers are not accepted. You must enable cross-border online payments on your Indian card before registering. Forex cards from HDFC, ICICI or Axis Bank reduce the AUD-INR conversion losses.

OET Fee Waiver and Sponsorship 2026

OET does not offer direct fee waivers, scholarships or discounts to individual candidates. Indian healthcare professionals must pay the full OET fee for each attempt.

• Some UK NHS hospital sponsorship programmes cover the OET fee for sponsored nurses.
• Australian state-sponsored healthcare migration schemes sometimes reimburse the OET fee after you start working there.
• A few Indian healthcare staffing agencies offer OET coaching and fee reimbursement against a 2-year work commitment.

OET Online Registration Steps

1. Visit oet.com and create your myOET account.
2. Enter your full name exactly as it appears on your passport.
3. Verify your email and complete your profile with professional details.
4. Choose your test format: OET on Paper, OET on Computer or OET@Home.
5. Select your healthcare profession from the 12 OET professions.
6. Pick your test date and India test centre.
7. Upload a recent passport-size photo.
8. Pay the AUD $587 fee using Visa, MasterCard or American Express.
9. You receive a confirmation email with your OET registration number.

What documents do you need to register for the OET?

You need a valid Indian passport at registration and on test day. The name on your passport must exactly match the name on your OET registration. You also need proof of your healthcare profession qualification at the time of test booking. Aadhaar, PAN card and other Indian IDs are not accepted.

For OET@Home, you must complete an equipment check and a quiet-room check 24 to 48 hours before your test. Failed equipment checks lead to test cancellation with no refund. Run the OET system check at least 1 week before your test date.

OET does not verify your healthcare qualification at registration. But the regulator you apply to (NMC UK, AHPRA Australia, ECFMG USA) will verify it during your professional registration process. Take OET only if your healthcare qualification is genuine and verifiable.

Can BSc nursing students take the OET?

Yes. BSc Nursing students can take the OET even before completing their degree. But most regulators require you to have completed your nursing qualification before they accept your OET score for registration. Check with your target country's nursing council before taking the OET as a student.

OET Exam Dates in India 2026

You can check upcoming OET exam dates on the official OET website. The OET is held 24 times a year, typically twice every month. This is the most frequent test schedule among English proficiency tests for healthcare professionals.

• OET on Paper is offered on selected Saturdays each month.
• OET on Computer is available on more frequent dates at select centres.
• OET@Home is available almost daily based on your time zone slots.

Book your OET test date at least 6 to 8 weeks in advance. Kerala, Punjab and Bengaluru centres fill up first because of the high nursing-applicant demand in these states.

The OET fee is the same across all Indian cities. Each test centre offers limited seats per date.

OET has 50 centres compared to IELTS at 200+ centres in India. If you live outside the 8 major OET states above, expect 200 to 400 km of travel to the nearest OET centre. The OET@Home format eliminates this travel cost.

OET Sub-Test Retake (Unique to OET)

The OET sub-test retake is a unique feature among English proficiency tests. You can rebook just 1, 2 or 3 sub-tests instead of taking the full OET again. Single sub-test rebook costs AUD $315 (around ₹19,090). Full retake costs AUD $587 (around ₹40,000). The sub-test retake works only for paper-based OET. It is not available for OET on Computer or OET@Home.

Important rules for the OET sub-test retake:

• Available only on paper-based OET.
• You can rebook a sub-test only if your previous OET attempt was within the last 12 months.
• Your previous sub-test scores stay valid and combine with your new sub-test score.
• The regulator must accept score clubbing for your country (see Acceptance section below).

The ECFMG (USA) does NOT accept clubbed OET scores. If you target USA medical registration, you must achieve all 4 sub-test minimums in a single sitting. The sub-test retake feature is only useful for UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

OET Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2026

The OET exam pattern 2026 has 4 sub-tests. The total test duration is around 3 hours. Listening and Reading are common across all 12 professions. Writing and Speaking are profession-specific.

OET Listening sub-test syllabus:

• Part A: Extended healthcare consultation extracts (12 minutes). Note-taking task.
• Part B: Short workplace extracts (10 minutes). Multiple-choice questions.
• Part C: Presentations or interviews on healthcare topics (15 minutes). Multiple-choice questions.

OET Reading sub-test syllabus:

• Part A: 15 minutes for 4 short healthcare texts. Quick information search.
• Part B: 45 minutes for 6 short workplace texts plus 2 longer healthcare articles.

OET Writing sub-test syllabus: One letter task in 45 minutes. The letter content depends on your profession. Nurses write nursing referral or discharge letters. Doctors write transfer letters to specialists. Pharmacists write information letters about medication.

OET Speaking sub-test syllabus: Two 5-minute role-plays. You play your healthcare profession. The OET interlocutor plays a patient, parent or carer. Each role-play has a different clinical scenario.

How does OET scoring work?

Each OET sub-test is scored 0 to 500 points. The points map to letter grades:

• Grade A: 450-500 points (very high English proficiency)
• Grade B: 350-440 points (good English proficiency (most regulators' minimum))
• Grade C+: 300-340 points (acceptable for some regulators)
• Grade C: 200-290 points (below minimum for most healthcare registrations)
• Grade D: 100-190 points (well below minimum)
• Grade E: 0-90 points (lowest)

OET does not give an overall score. Each sub-test is scored and reported separately.

Is there negative marking in the OET?

No. The OET has no negative marking. Always attempt every question, even if you have to guess. There is no penalty for a wrong answer.

How to Check Your OET Results 2026

OET results are released 16 business days after your test date. You see your sub-test scores and grades on your myOET dashboard.

• Log in to your myOET account using your registered credentials.
• Go to the My Results section.
• Click View Result next to your most recent OET test.
• You see your scores and grades for all 4 sub-tests.
• Download your official Statement of Results PDF.

OET also sends physical Statement of Results by post to your registered address. The physical copy reaches you in 4 to 6 weeks.

Most regulators (NMC, AHPRA, ECFMG) accept the digital Statement of Results sent directly from Cambridge Boxhill. You do not need to wait for the postal copy. Use the EPIC service for ECFMG verification.
