  • Seat Allotment: After counselling rounds, DSU releases seat allotment results based on DSAT merit rank and course preference. Candidates must pay the admission fee within 5–7 days of allotment to confirm their seat.
  • Academic Session 2026–27: The new academic year at Dayananda Sagar University is expected to begin in August 2026. Admitted students receive their reporting schedule along with the admission confirmation letter issued after fee payment.

What is DSAT 2026?

The Dayananda Sagar Scholarship Admission Test (DSAT) is conducted by Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), Bengaluru, Karnataka every year. It is a university-level entrance test that gives students admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at DSU. More than just an admission gateway, DSAT also awards merit-based scholarships to top scorers — making it a scholarship-cum-admission test that is unique among institute-level exams in Karnataka.

DSU conducts DSAT in three phases each year, typically in February, April, and May. This rolling schedule means you do not have to wait for a single exam window. If you miss one phase, you can appear in the next. All three phase results are merged into one combined merit list for counselling.

The exam gives you entry to B.Tech (across 12 specialisations), MBA, B.Pharm, M.Tech, M.Pharm, BBA, BBA LL.B, BA LL.B, and Pharm D programmes. DSU also accepts valid scores from KCET and JEE Main for B.Tech, but DSAT is the only route to the university’s scholarship benefits.

  • Scholarship eligibility status (if applicable)

All three phase results are merged into one combined merit list. Your rank depends on your score relative to all DSAT 2026 candidates across all three phases. DSU does not send individual result notifications — you must actively check the portal.

DSAT 2026 Cutoff

The DSAT cutoff is the score above which candidates become eligible for counselling and seat allotment at DSU. Since there is no negative marking, the qualifying cutoff is generally moderate and accessible to students who have a solid grasp of Class 11 and 12 concepts.

DSU does not publish a fixed cutoff score before the exam. Instead, the university prepares a merit list based on actual DSAT scores. Admission then depends on rank in this merit list, the programme applied for, the candidate’s category, and the number of seats available. The effective cutoff changes each year based on paper difficulty and the total number of candidates.

Expected DSAT 2026 Score Range for Admission

Based on previous year patterns and the nature of the exam (75 marks total, no negative marking), here are estimated score ranges for different programmes:

Programme Branch / Specialisation Expected DSAT Score for Admission (Approx.)
B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) 50–75 out of 75
AIML, Cyber Security, Data Science 45–70 out of 75
ECE, Mechanical, Civil 30–60 out of 75
B.Pharm All specialisations 30–55 out of 75
MBA All specialisations 35–65 out of 75

These score ranges are estimates based on previous year trends. Actual DSAT 2026 cutoffs will be declared after all counselling rounds are complete.

DSU KCET 2025 Cutoff (Reference for B.Tech)

For B.Tech admissions, DSU also accepts KCET scores. The 2025 KCET closing ranks at DSU give an idea of how competitive the university’s popular branches are. DSAT candidates who also hold a valid KCET score may be eligible for merit-based entry through either route.

Programme Category KCET Closing Rank 2025 (Approx.)
B.Tech 2G (Karnataka General) 30,318 – 94,958
2AG (Karnataka General — All India) 16,501 – 2,42,076
BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) 2G / 2AG 23,637 – 1,03,576

Note: KCET and DSAT operate on different ranking systems. The KCET ranks above are for context only. DSAT 2026 cutoffs are score-based, not KCET rank-based.

DSAT 2026 Counselling Process

DSAT 2026 counselling was expected to begin in the second week of June 2026, after the Phase 3 result was declared. The counselling process at DSU is the final step to confirm a seat. DSU typically runs 2–3 rounds of counselling, which gives candidates who miss the first round another opportunity to secure a seat in a later round.

All three phase candidates — Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 — are included in the same combined merit list and go through a single counselling process. There is no separate counselling for each phase.

Step-by-Step DSAT 2026 Counselling Process

  • Step 1 — Shortlisting: After the merit list is published, DSU shortlists candidates based on DSAT rank and category. Shortlisted candidates receive a notification via email and SMS with their counselling date and time slot.
  • Step 2 — Document Verification: Candidates must visit the DSU campus or designated centre on the allotted date with original documents and two sets of photocopies. Only candidates who clear document verification can proceed further.
  • Step 3 — Choice Filling: Verified candidates fill in their course and branch preferences in order of priority, through the candidate login portal.
  • Step 4 — Seat Allotment: DSU releases the seat allotment list based on merit rank, category, and the choices filled. Candidates are allotted seats in available branches according to rank order.
  • Step 5 — Fee Payment: Allotted candidates must pay the admission fee or seat confirmation amount within 5–7 days. Non-payment within the deadline leads to automatic cancellation of the allotted seat.
  • Step 6 — Confirmation and Reporting: After fee payment, the university issues an admission confirmation letter specifying the reporting date, orientation schedule, and required documents for the new academic session.

Documents Required for DSAT 2026 Counselling

  • DSAT 2026 rank card or scorecard (downloaded from dsu.edu.in)
  • Class 10 mark sheet and pass certificate
  • Class 12 mark sheet and pass certificate (or provisional certificate if result is awaited)
  • Transfer Certificate (TC) from the last institution attended
  • Migration Certificate
  • Caste / Category Certificate — SC, ST, or OBC (if applicable)
  • 6–8 passport-size photographs (same as the one uploaded in the application)
  • Aadhaar card or any valid government-issued photo ID

You must bring original documents for verification. Photocopies alone are not accepted. If you cannot produce original documents, the allotted seat will be cancelled and offered to the next eligible candidate in the merit list.

DSAT 2026 Preparation Tips

DSAT is considered easier than JEE Main or KCET. It is based on Class 11 and 12 NCERT concepts, and the questions are largely straightforward MCQs. If you are already preparing for JEE Main or KCET, 4–6 focused weeks on DSAT-style questions is enough to score well.

Start with NCERT

The DSAT paper is heavily NCERT-based. You should go through your Class 11 and 12 NCERT textbooks for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Biology for B.Pharm) before moving to any reference books. Most DSAT questions are either directly from NCERT or are minor variations. Reading every NCERT line carefully, including solved examples and exercises, is enough for most students to reach 50+ out of 75.

Attempt All 75 Questions

Since there is no negative marking in DSAT, you should attempt every single question. Even if you are not sure about an answer, make an educated guess. With 4 options per question, guessing the one that looks most reasonable gives you a real chance of picking up an extra mark. There is no downside to answering a question you are unsure about.

Focus on High-Weightage Topics

In Physics, questions on Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Modern Physics, and Mechanics appear consistently. In Chemistry, Organic Chemistry functional groups and Physical Chemistry chapters (Equilibrium, Chemical Kinetics, Electrochemistry) carry high weight. In Mathematics, Calculus (Differentiation and Integration), Algebra, and Coordinate Geometry are the most scoring chapters.

Manage Your Time in the Exam

You have 2 hours (120 minutes) for 75 questions — about 1.6 minutes per question. Do not spend more than 2 minutes on any single question. If a problem is taking too long, mark your best guess and move on. Return to tough questions only at the end if time allows. Most students find 90 minutes enough to attempt all questions, leaving 30 minutes for review.

Practice with KCET and NEET Previous Year Papers

DSAT does not officially publish previous year question papers. However, the exam difficulty and topic distribution are very similar to KCET. Solving KCET papers from the last 3–4 years is one of the most effective ways to prepare for DSAT. For the Biology section (B.Pharm candidates), NEET previous year papers are the best practice resource.

Choose the Right Phase for DSAT 2027

If you are planning to appear for DSAT 2027, keep in mind that the exam offers three phases in February, April, and May. Phase 1 suits candidates who are confident and want an early admission offer. Phase 3 gives you the most preparation time, especially if you are also sitting for Class 12 boards — but you must complete registration before the February deadline. All three phase results are ranked together, so the phase you choose does not affect your seat access in counselling.

Take Full-Length Mock Tests

Take at least 3–4 full-length mock tests before your exam date. Simulate actual exam conditions — timer running, no breaks, no phone. After every mock test, review each mistake and note the chapter so you can revise it. Regular mock testing improves both your speed and your accuracy, especially under time pressure.
