The university's main campus is in the city of Derby. The Kedleston Road site in Allestree, in the north-west of Derby is the largest and main campus and serves as the university's headquarters. The other campuses of the university are located at Buxton, Chesterfield and Leek.

The library is open 24/7 with four floors of quality, up-to-date resources, 1,300 places for individual and group study, access to over 40,000 books and 79,500 journals, with over 450 PCs across all floors, and specialist/ well-trained academic librarians for each subject area. Further, it also has a learning hub and a learning cafe.
