Ques. Is the GITAM PhD Fellowship of INR 33,000/month guaranteed for all admitted PhD scholars in Pharmaceutical Analysis?
Ans. No, the GITAM PhD Fellowship is not guaranteed for all admitted candidates. It is awarded to selected full-time PhD scholars based on merit and availability, for a maximum of 3 years. Candidates who already hold a government fellowship such as JRF from CSIR/UGC or DBT-JRF may not be eligible for the GITAM fellowship simultaneously. It is advisable to clarify fellowship availability directly with the department at the time of admission by writing to phdsupport@gitam.edu.
Ques. Can I apply for the PhD in Pharmaceutical Analysis at GITAM without a GPAT score?
Ans. Yes, you can apply without a GPAT score. GITAM conducts its own entrance test called GReAT for candidates who do not hold a valid score in national-level exams like GPAT, CSIR/UGC-NET, GATE, DBT-JRF, or ICAR. The GReAT is an online test of 2 hours with 160 marks, covering Research Aptitude (80 marks) and Pharmaceutical Analysis subject area (80 marks). Clearing GReAT makes you eligible for the interview round.
Ques. What is the difference between the Full-Time and Extramural PhD programmes at GITAM School of Pharmacy?
Ans. The Full-Time PhD requires scholars to be physically present on campus for a minimum of 3 years, with an annual fee of INR 30,000. The Extramural PhD is designed for scientists/professionals working in research institutions recognized by GITAM, with a minimum of 1 year of work experience, a duration of 4 years, and an annual fee of INR 1,00,000. Both modes require mandatory coursework. The GITAM PhD Fellowship of INR 33,000/month is available only for Full-Time scholars.
Ques. What research areas are covered under PhD in Pharmaceutical Analysis at GITAM Visakhapatnam?
Ans. The PhD in Pharmaceutical Analysis at GITAM covers research areas including analytical method development and validation, spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques (HPLC, GC, LC-MS, NMR, UV-Vis), quality control and quality assurance in pharmaceuticals, impurity profiling, bioanalytical method development, and regulatory compliance. Ques. Is the PhD in Pharmaceutical Analysis at GITAM recognized by UGC and PCI?
Ans. Yes, GITAM is a Deemed to be University recognized under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, and its PhD programmes are UGC-recognized. The School of Pharmacy is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). The PhD degree awarded by GITAM is valid for academic and research positions in India. Graduates are eligible to apply for faculty positions in pharmacy colleges and research positions in pharmaceutical companies and government organizations.
Ques. What happens if I want to cancel my admission after joining the PhD programme at GITAM?
Ans. As per the 2026-2027 admission schedule, the last date for admission cancellation with a refund of fees (after deducting administrative charges) is 15th September 2026. The application/registration fee of INR 1,200 is non-refundable under all circumstances. It is recommended to confirm the exact refund policy and administrative deduction amount with the admissions office at the time of joining.
