Ans. Yes, MRU offers the Ph.D. programme in both full-time and part-time modes. Part-time scholars must be employed and are required to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer confirming support for research and provision of adequate time. The minimum duration for part-time scholars is 4 years (compared to 3 years for full-time), and the maximum is 6 years, extendable to 8 years. The fee structure is the same, but part-time scholars pay research fee for a minimum of 4 years (8 semesters) instead of 3 years.

Ans. The ECE department at MRU has active research in Wireless and Mobile Communication, Semiconductor Devices, Antenna Design, Digital Signal and Image Processing, VLSI Design, Mixed Signal Processing, Smart Grids, IoT, Digital Design using HDL, Solar Cell Materials, Wireless Sensor Networks, MANETs, Power System Networks, Advanced Communication Systems (MIMO), Optimization Techniques, Artificial Intelligence, Wireless Communication, Multi-Carrier Modulation, Power Converters, Electric Vehicles, and Photovoltaic Systems. Ans. Both are financial support schemes for full-time Ph.D. scholars, but they differ in eligibility and amount. The TRA (Rs. 24,000-30,000/month) is available to scholars who have cleared MRU's entrance test and are confirmed for Ph.D. registration, with preference for UGC-NET/M.Phil. qualified candidates. The RF (Rs. 31,000-35,000/month) has a stricter age limit (35 years for men, 45 years for women) and requires a first-class Master's degree. Both include a contingency fund of Rs. 15,000/year. A scholar can avail only one of these at a time, and continuation is subject to annual performance review.

Ans. Yes. Candidates with valid UGC-NET, UGC-JRF, CSIR-NET (JRF), or GATE scores are fully exempted from MRU's written entrance test and are directly called for the personal interview (30 marks). M.Phil. degree holders who completed their M.Phil. before December 2023 with a minimum of 55% marks are also exempted. This exemption significantly simplifies the admission process for candidates who have already cleared national-level tests.

Ans. Ph.D. scholars at MRU are expected to publish at least 2 research papers annually in SCI/Scopus/SSCI/ABDC-indexed journals, with MRU affiliation mentioned in the papers. Additionally, scholars are required to participate in academic activities such as tutorials, lab demonstrations, and seminars (up to 6 hours per week) as part of their scholarly engagement. These requirements are monitored through regular progress reviews by the Department Research Committee (DRC) and are a prerequisite for thesis submission.

Ans. If you do not submit your thesis within 15 days of completing 3 years from the date of registration, you will continue to pay the Research Fee at Rs. 45,000 per semester for each additional semester. The maximum duration is 6 years from the date of admission, extendable to 8 years through re-registration. For women scholars and Persons with Disabilities (more than 40% disability), the maximum duration can be extended to 10 years. If you fail to pay the semester fee by the due date (July 31 or January 31), late fines apply, and your name may be struck off the university rolls if payment is not made by August 31 or March 2, respectively. Re-admission is possible with the Vice Chancellor's approval and a re-admission fee of Rs. 10,000.
