BIHER B.Tech CSE FAQs
Ques. Is BEEE mandatory for admission to B.Tech CSE at BIHER, or can I apply directly with my JEE Main score?
Ans. BEEE (Bharath Engineering Entrance Examination) is BIHER's own entrance exam and is the primary route for admission. However, BIHER also accepts JEE Main scores for B.Tech admissions. Students who have appeared in JEE Main 2026 can apply directly through the BIHER admissions portal by submitting their scorecard. The merit list is prepared considering either BEEE rank or JEE Main score along with Class 12 marks. So you do not necessarily need to appear for BEEE if you have a valid JEE Main score.
Ques. What is the actual fee I will pay per year for B.Tech CSE at BIHER, and does it vary based on my Class 12 marks?
Ans. As per the official 2026-27 fee structure, the tuition fee for B.Tech CSE is Rs. 3,50,000 per annum. However, BIHER offers a merit-based fee concession: if your Class 12 PCM aggregate is above 95%, you get a 75% concession (paying only Rs. 87,500 per year); above 90%-95% gives a 50% concession (Rs. 1,75,000 per year); 85%-90% gives 30% off (Rs. 2,45,000 per year); and 70%-85% gives 25% off (Rs. 2,62,500 per year). So the actual fee you pay depends significantly on your academic performance.
Ques. What are the placement opportunities for B.Tech CSE students at BIHER, and what is the average package?
Ans. BIHER has a dedicated placement cell with 2,300+ corporates and MNCs visiting the campus for recruitment. Companies such as Cognizant, HCLTech, LTI Mindtree, Movate, and Inout (international hiring) have recently recruited from BIHER. Student reviews indicate an average package of approximately Rs. 4.5-6 lakhs per annum for CSE graduates, with some students placed in top MNCs. The university claims a consistent growth in placement records, though students are advised to verify the latest placement data directly with the college before admission.
Ques. Does BIHER offer any industry-integrated or specialisation tracks within B.Tech CSE, and are they worth it?
Ans. Yes, BIHER offers several specialisation tracks within B.Tech CSE including AI & ML, Data Science, Cyber Security, IoT & Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, and programmes in association with IBM and UpGrad Campus. These specialisation tracks carry the same tuition fee of Rs. 3,50,000 per annum (except the AI & DS with UpGrad Campus variant at Rs. 3,75,000 per annum). The IBM and UpGrad-associated programmes offer industry-recognised certifications alongside the degree, which can add value to your resume. Students interested in a specific domain should opt for the relevant specialisation at the time of admission.
Ques. What is the hostel facility like at BIHER, and is it mandatory to stay in the college hostel?
Ans. Hostel accommodation at BIHER is not mandatory. The college hostel fee is approximately Rs. 1,30,000 for 4 years (Rs. 32,500 per annum). However, student reviews suggest that many students prefer private hostels near the campus as the college hostel fee is considered high relative to the facilities offered. The university does assist students in availing education loans from private banks to cover both tuition and hostel fees. Students are advised to visit the campus and assess hostel facilities before making a decision.
Ques. What accreditations and rankings does BIHER hold, and how does it compare to other private engineering colleges in Chennai?
Ans. BIHER holds several prestigious accreditations: it is the first private university in India to receive ABET (USA) accreditation for engineering programmes (since 2018), along with NAAC, NBA, NABL, and ISO certifications. It is ranked by NIRF, QS World Rankings, and Times Higher Education (THE) World Rankings. In the IIRF 2023 rankings, it was ranked #16 among top private colleges in India. Compared to other private engineering colleges in Chennai, BIHER stands out for its international accreditations and research focus, though students should also consider factors like placement records and faculty quality when making their decision.
