PMCA M.Arch FAQs
Ques. Is the M.Arch (Executive) at PMCA a part-time or full-time program, and can I pursue it while working?
Ans. The M.Arch (Executive) at PMCA is specifically designed as a part-time program for practicing architects and working professionals. It is structured over 3 years (6 semesters) and classes are typically scheduled to accommodate working professionals. This means you can continue your professional practice while pursuing the degree. The program is ideal for B.Arch graduates who are already employed in architecture firms, government departments, or related fields and wish to upgrade their academic qualifications.
Ques. What is the difference between M.Arch (Executive) and M.Arch (Habitat Design) at PMCA?
Ans. PMCA offers two distinct Master's programs. The M.Arch (Habitat Design) is a 2-year full-time regular program for students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies on a full-time basis immediately after B.Arch. The M.Arch (Executive) is a 3-year part-time program designed for working professionals. The Executive program has a total fee of Rs. 3,54,000 (3 years), while the Habitat Design program costs Rs. 2,36,000 (2 years). Both programs require GATE/PGETA/OJEE-PGAT scores for admission, but the Executive program is specifically structured for those already in professional practice.
Ques. Is GATE mandatory for admission to M.Arch (Executive) at PMCA, or can I apply through OJEE alone?
Ans. GATE is not the only route. PMCA accepts three valid entrance scores for M.Arch (Executive) admission: (1) GATE score in the Architecture and Planning (AR) paper, (2) PGETA score conducted by the Council of Architecture (COA), and (3) OJEE-PGAT rank obtained through the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination. GATE qualified candidates have the advantage of directly participating in OJEE counselling without appearing for the OJEE entrance test. Candidates without a GATE score can appear for OJEE-PGAT or PGETA to become eligible for admission.
Ques. What documents are required at the time of admission to M.Arch (Executive) at PMCA?
Ans. At the time of admission, you will need to submit: B.Arch marksheets and pass certificate, 10th marksheet and pass certificate, GATE score card or PGETA score card or OJEE rank card, a valid COA registration/enrolment number certificate, college leaving certificate, migration certificate, conduct/character certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), nativity/resident certificate (for reserved category and women candidates), Aadhaar card photocopy, and passport-size and stamp-size photographs. The COA registration certificate is a mandatory document specific to architecture admissions and must be arranged in advance.
Ques. How is the fee payment structured for M.Arch (Executive) at PMCA, and are there any EMI options?
Ans. The total fee for M.Arch (Executive) at PMCA is Rs. 3,54,000 for the entire 3-year program, payable at Rs. 1,18,000 per year (Rs. 1,14,000 tuition + Rs. 4,000 miscellaneous). Fees are typically paid on a yearly or semester basis as per BPUT norms. While PMCA does not officially advertise EMI options, bank education loans are available through nationalized banks for eligible students. Students from economically weaker sections can also apply for the NSP (PM-USP) scholarship worth Rs. 82,000 per annum to offset the annual fee burden significantly.
Ques. What is the placement scenario for M.Arch (Executive) graduates from PMCA?
Ans. Since the M.Arch (Executive) is a part-time program for working professionals, most students are already employed at the time of enrollment and continue in their respective roles during the program. The degree enhances career prospects by qualifying graduates for senior positions in architecture firms, government bodies (such as PWD, CPWD, Smart Cities Mission), urban planning departments, and academic institutions. PMCA has a decent placement record with an overall placement rating of 3.9/5 as reviewed by students, though exclusive placement data specific to the M.Arch (Executive) batch is not separately published by the college.
