ISI Certificate Course in Quality Control FAQs
Ques. Is the SQC Certificate from ISI Hyderabad recognised by industry? What is its value compared to other quality certifications?
Ans. The Certificate in Statistical Quality Control from ISI Hyderabad is highly regarded in Indian industry, particularly in manufacturing, automotive, pharmaceutical, and process industries. ISI is an Institution of National Importance, and its SQC training has been the gold standard for quality professionals in India since the 1950s. The certificate, combined with the Six Sigma Green Belt certification included in the programme, provides a strong dual credential. While it is not equivalent to international certifications like ASQ CQE or ISO-certified Six Sigma programmes, it is widely recognised by Indian public sector undertakings, defence organisations, and manufacturing companies as a credible qualification in quality management.
Ques. Can I apply for the ISI Hyderabad SQC Certificate Course if I am self-employed or a freelancer without a formal employer?
Ans. No. The SQC Certificate Course at ISI Hyderabad is restricted to persons working in industrial, commercial, or scientific organisations. Candidates must either be sponsored by their organisation or hold a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer. Self-employed individuals or freelancers without a formal organisational affiliation are not eligible. The requirement exists because the course includes compulsory live project work that must be carried out in the candidate's own organisation, which requires the employer's cooperation and support.
Ques. How many Sundays per month are classes held, and what is the total number of class hours in the SQC Certificate Course?
Ans. Classes are held every Sunday (or most Sundays) throughout the course duration of 6 to 10 months. Each Sunday involves two sessions: 9:00 AM to 1:15 PM and 2:00 PM to 6:15 PM, totalling approximately 8 hours per Sunday. The total instructional hours are approximately 210 hours, comprising 80 hours of Statistical Methods (theory and practical), 100 hours of Quality Technology (theory and practical), 10 hours of case studies, 10 hours of special lectures, and 10 hours of seminars and discussions. Candidates must attend at least 75% of the total lectures to be eligible to appear in the final examination.
Ques. What is the Six Sigma Green Belt Certification included in the ISI Hyderabad SQC course? Is it internationally recognised?
Ans. The Six Sigma Green Belt Certification is an additional module included in the ISI Hyderabad SQC course, which is why the course duration extends to approximately 10 months (instead of the base 6 months). The certification is awarded by ISI after the candidate passes the applicable Six Sigma Green Belt test. While it is not an internationally accredited certification from bodies like ASQ or IASSC, it is issued by ISI - an Institution of National Importance - and is well-regarded in Indian industry. Candidates seeking internationally accredited Six Sigma Green Belt certification should pursue ASQ or IASSC-certified programmes separately.
Ques. What happens if I fail one or more papers in the final examination of the SQC Certificate Course?
Ans. A candidate who fails or does not appear in the final examination is permitted to appear at the final examination of the next batch. This is the last chance for such candidates. The grades for the re-examination are awarded purely based on marks obtained in those examinations (home assignment and periodical test marks from the original batch are not carried forward). A re-examination fee of Rs. 100 per paper is charged. Candidates must keep in touch with the Course Co-ordinator at ISI Hyderabad to know the exact dates of the next batch's final examinations.
Ques. How do I find out when the next SQC Certificate Course batch at ISI Hyderabad will start? Is there a fixed annual schedule?
