The M.Tech in VLSI Design & Embedded Systems at Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education (SAHE University), formerly Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College (VRSEC), is a 2-year full-time postgraduate program offered under the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Established in 2012, the program has an annual seat intake of 12 and is designed to develop advanced technical skills in both VLSI circuit design and embedded system development. The total fee for the program is INR 1,65,000 (tuition fee INR 80,000 per year plus a one-time admission fee of INR 5,000), and admission is based on GATE or AP PGECET scores. The course is popular among ECE/EEE/EIE graduates seeking careers in the semiconductor, chip design, and embedded systems industry, which is witnessing rapid growth in India with the government's push for domestic semiconductor manufacturing.

Admissions for the 2026-27 academic session are currently upcoming. The AP PGECET 2026 exam was conducted on April 28-30, 2026, and results were declared on May 14, 2026. Counselling for AP PGECET-based M.Tech admissions is expected to begin in June-July 2026. Students with a valid GATE 2026 score may apply directly through the university's admissions portal. The batch is expected to commence in August-September 2026.

SAHE M.Tech VLSI FAQs

Ques. What is the monthly stipend offered to M.Tech VLSI Design & Embedded Systems students at SAHE University?

Ans. As per the department's official brochure, M.Tech students in VLSI Design & Embedded Systems at SAHE University are provided a monthly stipend of INR 3,000 to INR 5,000 based on their CGPA. This stipend is an institutional support mechanism to encourage academic performance. Students should confirm the current stipend amount and CGPA criteria directly with the ECE department at the time of admission, as these figures may be revised for the 2026-27 batch.

Ques. What EDA tools and software are available for M.Tech VLSI students at SAHE University?

Ans. The ECE department at SAHE University has received licensed EDA tools under the MeitY-supported C2S ChipIN programme, including Synopsys, Cadence, Keysight, Ansys, and Xilinx. Students also get hands-on exposure to tools like Vivado, COMSOL, RTOS, and Keil as part of the curriculum. These are the same tools used by leading semiconductor companies globally, giving students a significant advantage in industry placements. The department also has a dedicated VLSI Design Lab and a Micro-Nano Fabrication Centre.

Ques. What are the placement opportunities for M.Tech VLSI Design & Embedded Systems graduates from SAHE University?

Ans. Graduates from this program have been placed at companies including Intel Technology (12 LPA), STELLANTIS (7.1 LPA), SoCtronics (9 LPA), TCS (3.5 LPA), DRDO (3 LPA), and DEFT Semiconductors (3 LPA). The department provides 100% placement assistance as stated in its brochure. The ECE department overall has recorded 1,442 placement offers over the last five years, with a highest package of 23 LPA and an average CTC of 4.6 LPA. However, these figures are for the entire ECE department (B.Tech + M.Tech combined) and not exclusively for M.Tech VLSI graduates.

Ques. Is the M.Tech VLSI Design & Embedded Systems program at SAHE University recognized and accredited?

Ans. Yes, the B.Tech ECE program at SAHE University is accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation), New Delhi, five times with Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework. The ECE department is also recognized as a Research Centre by JNTUK. The university itself is a Deemed-to-be University under the UGC Act and is ranked #151-200 by NIRF 2024 under the Engineering category. The M.Tech VLSI program is AICTE-approved and the degree is recognized by UGC.

Ques. What is the difference between M.Tech VLSI Design & Embedded Systems and M.Tech Signal Processing & Communication at SAHE University?

Ans. SAHE University's ECE department offers two M.Tech specializations: VLSI Design & Embedded Systems (established 2012, intake 12) and Signal Processing & Communication (established 2025, intake 12). VLSI & Embedded Systems focuses on chip design, FPGA programming, embedded firmware, IoT, and semiconductor industry roles. Signal Processing & Communication, being a newer program, focuses on digital signal processing, wireless communication, antenna design, and related areas. If your career goal is in the semiconductor/chip design industry or embedded product development, VLSI is the right choice. If you are interested in communication systems, 5G, radar, or DSP-based roles, Signal Processing & Communication would be more suitable.

Ques. Can I pursue a Ph.D. after completing M.Tech VLSI Design & Embedded Systems from SAHE University?

Ans. Yes, SAHE University offers a Ph.D. program in the ECE department (established 2024, intake 12). M.Tech graduates with a strong academic record and research interest can apply for Ph.D. admission at SAHE University itself. The department has active research groups in VLSI & Embedded Systems, Antennas, Image Processing, RF & Microwave, and Signal Processing. Additionally, M.Tech graduates from SAHE University can apply for Ph.D. programs at other universities and IITs/NITs using their GATE score (valid for 3 years from the date of result). The department's strong research output (677 publications, 40 patents, INR 5 crores in research grants) provides a good foundation for doctoral research.
