KASC Ph.D LIS Admission 2026

Admissions to the Ph.D (Library and Information Science) programme at KASC are conducted as per Bharathiar University's research admission notification, released once a year (typically in October). Candidates must apply online through the Bharathiar University portal and appear for an interview/viva conducted by the college department. The 2026-27 admission cycle closed in November 2026; the next cycle is expected to open in October 2027.

Note: UGC-NET and TANCET are not mandatory for admission to KASC PhD Library and Information Science, but qualifying UGC-NET (LIS) with JRF makes candidates eligible for monthly fellowship/stipend. Admission is primarily through Bharathiar University's own research admission process.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have passed a Post Graduate (M.L.I.Sc. / M.Lib.Sc. / M.L.I.S.) degree in Library and Information Science from a recognised university.
• A minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying PG degree is required (50% for SC/ST/OBC candidates as per UGC norms).
• Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (Library and Information Science) are given preference; however, it is not mandatory for admission.

• Candidates must fill and submit the online application form through the Bharathiar University research admission portal (fms.b-u.ac.in/research).
• Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview/viva conducted by the Department of Library and Information Science at KASC.
• Final selection is based on academic merit, research proposal, and performance in the interview.
• Selected candidates must complete registration formalities and pay the prescribed fees at the college.
