KASC Vedic Math Diploma FAQs
Q1. What is Vedic Mathematics and why should I pursue this diploma at KASC?
Ans. Vedic Mathematics is a system of ancient Indian mathematical techniques based on 16 sutras (aphorisms) and 13 sub-sutras, rediscovered by Jagadguru Swami Sri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji Maharaja. It enables high-speed mental calculations in arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. The Diploma at KASC is taught by the experienced faculty of the Department of Mathematics (Aided), which has a strong academic record, and the programme is affiliated to Bharathiar University, ensuring a recognised qualification.
Q2. What is the structure of the Diploma in Vedic Mathematics at KASC?
Ans. The diploma is a 1-year programme spread over 2 semesters with 12 total credits. Semester I covers Core Paper I (Vedic Arithmetic) and Core Paper II (Vedic Algebra). Semester II covers Core Paper III (Vedic Geometry) and the Project and Viva Voce. Each theory paper carries 100 marks (25 CIA + 75 ESE) and 3 credits. The Project and Viva Voce also carries 100 marks and 3 credits.
Q3. How is the Project component of this diploma evaluated?
Ans. Students can choose from four options for the project: (1) a research/review article on contributions of Indian mathematicians, (2) a study of ancient Indian mathematical texts (Leelavati, Sulba Sutra, Ganita Kaumudi, etc.), (3) a manuscript with new ideas, or (4) delivering a lecture on Vedic Mathematics at a school or college and submitting a feedback letter from the institution's head. Option 4 is evaluated entirely by the internal examiner for 100 marks.
Q4. Is this diploma useful for competitive exam preparation or teaching?
Ans. Yes. Vedic Mathematics techniques are widely used for speed calculation in competitive exams such as CAT, GMAT, bank exams, SSC, and other aptitude-based tests. The diploma also equips students to teach Vedic Mathematics at schools and coaching centres, which is a growing career opportunity. The project component specifically encourages students to deliver lectures at educational institutions.
Q5. What is the fee for the Diploma in Vedic Mathematics at KASC?
Ans. The exact fee is not separately listed on the department fees page. Based on the fee structure of similar diploma programmes at KASC (Rs. 3,000 per annum for Diploma in Apiculture, Ornamental Fish Production, Wildlife Biology, and Immunotechnology), the Diploma in Vedic Mathematics is expected to be in the range of Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 3,000 per annum. Students should confirm the current fee from the Department of Mathematics or the college office.
Q6. Can I pursue this diploma alongside my regular UG degree at KASC?
Ans. Yes. The Diploma in Vedic Mathematics is designed as an add-on programme that can be pursued alongside a regular UG degree at KASC. The classes are scheduled to avoid clashes with core degree papers. Students enrolled in B.Sc. Mathematics (Aided or Unaided) at KASC are particularly well-suited for this diploma, as the content complements their regular curriculum.
