Ques. What is the difference between full-time and part-time Ph.D. programs?
Ans. Full-time Ph.D. scholars must be available during working hours for research activities and have a minimum duration of 2 years. They can be unemployed, sponsored by employers, or working on funded projects. Part-time Ph.D. scholars must be employed in recognized institutions or industries and can pursue research while working, with a minimum duration of 3 years. Both categories have a maximum duration of 6 years. The research quality and thesis requirements are the same for both categories.
Ques. Is GATE or NET score mandatory for Ph.D. admission?
Ans. GATE or NET scores are not mandatory but are beneficial. Candidates with valid GATE or NET scores are exempted from the written examination conducted by Anna University. However, candidates without these scores can still apply and must appear for the written examination. The written examination tests research methodology (25%) and core subject knowledge (75%). Candidates must score at least 50% in the written examination to qualify for the interview.
