NSCBMC PGD FAQs

Ques. Which PG Diploma specializations are offered at NSCBMC Jabalpur?

Ans. NSCBMC offers PG Diploma in Anesthesiology, Child Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, and Medical Radio Diagnosis. Each is a 2-year full-time programme affiliated to MPMSU Jabalpur. These PGD programmes provide specialized clinical training equivalent to first-year MD/MS exposure in the respective disciplines.

Ques. What is the total fee for PG Diploma at NSCBMC, and are there scholarships?

Ans. Total fees are ₹99,060 for the 2-year programme (₹49,530/year) as a government institution. The MP Medhavi Chhatra Yojana can cover up to 100% of this tuition for eligible MP domicile candidates. Even without scholarships, the fee is among the lowest for PGD medical programmes in India.

Ques. Is NSCBMC PGD recognized for practice as a specialist in India?

Ans. PG Diplomas from MPMSU-affiliated government colleges like NSCBMC are recognized qualifications in their respective specialties. However, recognition and practice rights may vary by state regulations. For higher specialist career goals, many PGD holders pursue the corresponding MD/MS degree thereafter. Confirm specific recognition with the National Medical Commission.

Ques. What is the difference between All India Quota and MP State Quota seats at NSCBMC?

Ans. 50% of NSCBMC PGD seats are All India Quota (AIQ) seats, allotted through MCC PG national counseling based on NEET PG merit rank from all-India candidates. The remaining 50% are state quota seats allotted through DMET MP counseling, typically with priority for Madhya Pradesh domicile candidates. Competition for AIQ seats is generally higher as they draw from a national pool.

Ques. Can a PGD from NSCBMC Jabalpur be upgraded to an MD or MS later?

Ans. In general, a PG Diploma from a recognized institution may qualify candidates for lateral entry into certain MD/MS programmes, depending on NMC regulations and university policy at the time. MPMSU and other universities have had provisions for this in the past. Candidates interested in upgrading to MD/MS should consult MPMSU and NMC guidelines for current lateral entry provisions.

At NSCB Medical College & Hospital (NSCBMC) Jabalpur, the traditional B.Sc. Nursing (basic) course appears to be discontinued as per recent listings, though Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (for already qualified nurses) is offered. If you want a B.Sc. Nursing, check other colleges in Jabalpur or nearby. B.Sc. Nursing admissions in the region require 10+2 science (PCB) with minimum qualifying marks, and selection is merit-based on board/entrance scores and state counselling, often through the MP online nursing counselling process.
