NSCBMC MS FAQs
Ques. What NEET-PG rank is typically needed for MS at NSCBMC Jabalpur?
Ans. NSCBMC Jabalpur is a government medical college with a limited number of MS seats per specialization. In the AIQ round, General Surgery and Orthopaedics tend to attract competitive ranks. ENT and Obstetrics and Gynaecology may have relatively broader rank ranges. MP domicile candidates have a separate state quota merit list through DMET MP. Checking previous years’ closing ranks on the MCC and DMET MP counselling portals for NSCBMC will give you the most accurate picture.
Ques. What is the 1-year service bond at NSCBMC, and what happens if I break it?
Ans. All MS graduates from NSCBMC Jabalpur are required to serve for 1 year at NSCBMC or a designated facility as per MP state government norms. If you do not fulfill this obligation, a penalty of ₹10,00,000 applies. This is standard for MP government medical college PG programmes. Candidates should confirm the current bond terms with NSCBMC’s academic office before accepting the seat, as conditions may be revised by the state government.
Ques. How does the stipend at NSCBMC compare to the MS fee?
Ans. MS residents at NSCBMC receive ₹65,000/month in Year 1, ₹67,000/month in Year 2, and ₹69,000/month in Year 3. Over 36 months, the total stipend exceeds ₹24,00,000 -- far above the total tuition fee of ₹3,43,500. For qualifying candidates, the financial value proposition at a government medical college like NSCBMC is strong, making it attractive for candidates who also meet the service bond requirement.
Ques. Can candidates from states other than MP apply for MS at NSCBMC Jabalpur?
Ans. Yes. 50% of NSCBMC’s MS seats fall under the All India Quota (AIQ), open to NEET-PG qualified candidates from any state through MCC counselling. The remaining 50% are MP state quota seats, available only to MP domicile candidates via DMET MP counselling. Out-of-state candidates can secure a seat at NSCBMC through AIQ if their NEET-PG rank meets the closing rank for their chosen specialization.
Ques. What surgical training facilities does NSCBMC Jabalpur offer for MS students?
Ans. NSCBMC Jabalpur is a large government teaching hospital catering to the Jabalpur region and adjoining districts, giving MS residents exposure to a high-volume and varied surgical caseload. The hospital’s patient load from semi-urban and rural populations means MS trainees typically encounter a broad spectrum of cases across ENT, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Orthopaedics, which is essential for comprehensive surgical training.
