Bachelor of Commerce FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between the 4-year and 5-year co-op program at Toronto Metropolitan University?
Ans. The 4-year program is full-time study with no integrated work terms. The 5-year co-op option includes two paid 4-month work placements (typically in Years 2 and 3) within the degree. Co-op students earn C$18,000 to C$22,000 (INR 12,27,000 to 14,98,000) per term, offsetting tuition costs. Both options award the same Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree; co-op is more competitive to enter but significantly improves employment prospects and earnings.
Ques. Can I work part-time while studying at Toronto Metropolitan University?
Ans. Yes. Study permit regulations allow international students to work up to 20 hours per week on-campus during semesters (September-April and January-April) and full-time (40+ hours) during academic breaks (May-August). Many TMU Business students work part-time at the university library, student services, or the Business Career Hub (earning CAD 15-18 per hour, or INR 1,022 to 1,226 per hour), supplementing co-op or full-time summer work to cover living expenses.

Business Management graduates often qualify under NOC 1111 (Financial Auditors and Accountants) or 1120 (Professional Occupations in Business Services). A PGWP valid for 3 years gives you runway to gain the required 1 year of Canadian work experience before PR application.
Ques. How much does it cost to study Business Management at Toronto Metropolitan University in total?
Ans. Total 4-year cost is approximately C$175,000 to C$180,000 (INR 1.19 to 1.22 Crore), including international tuition (C$169,264), ancillary fees, and books. Add living costs of C$22,440 annually (INR 1,528,512) for a residential total of C$265,000+ (INR 1.81 Crore) over four years. Co-op earnings (C$36,000 to C$44,000 over two terms) and scholarships (up to C$10,000 for top applicants) reduce net costs. Many students work part-time and summers, further offsetting expenses.

I chose this university because it’s one of the best post-secondary schools for business and entrepreneurship, which is something I am truly passionate about. They also had a very good co-op and job opportunity, which was a great opportunity for me to select my business management program. I think my overall experience was better than I had actually imagined as I got to make friends pretty quick within my course activities and the events that attended that suited my interests. I’d like to have more in person classes, so I can use the full amenities provided at the school like the gym, library, and arena.
