- BSc in Computer Science and Health Information Science at the University of Victoria is offered as a 4-years program by the School of Health Information Science and the Department of Computer Science.
- The Combined Major in Computer Science and Health Information Science combines studies in the organization of health care systems and specific issues involving health informatics with the fundamentals of software engineering, operating systems, programming languages, and computer hardware.
- This program is designed for students seeking a more technical career path.
- Students will learn how to build healthcare systems that are usable, secure, and efficient.
- The BSc program consists of a minimum of 60 units.
- Students who have failed a work term or do not maintain a GPA of 4.0 or better in each academic term will normally be required to withdraw from the School for at least one calendar year.
- This is a full-time program only.
Co-op requirements
- Health Information Science/Computer Science Students admitted to the Combined Program in Health Information Science and Computer Science are required to take part in the Co-op Program.
- In addition to their academic requirements, they must successfully complete a minimum of three work terms with at least one in each area, and be enrolled in a minimum of 6.0 units of course work each campus term.
- The granting of work term credit by challenge is not permitted in this program.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
Applicants must hold Twelve years of academic preparation and one of the following:
- Indian School Certificate (CISCE) or All India Senior School Certificate (CBSE) awarded after Standard XII with 75% (conditional offer with 80% on Grade 10 results)
- Year 12 State Board Exams: Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC); applicants with excellent academic results will be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Students must have a GPA of 5.0 on a scale of 9.0.
- Senior-level math course
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Higher Secondary School Certificate with reputed institute with min 75%
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

- Statement of Purpose: This statement must describe your qualifications and the objectives of your intended educational program.
- Statement of Intent: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
- Official Transcripts: Applicants who have attended and/or received degrees from institutions outside the US must provide certified copies and certified English translations of transcripts or records of all previous post-secondary education and of all degrees conferred.
- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
