What Students Say
Likes
- Campus is huge have so many places to hang out, proper connector between various building
- As I am in Computer Engineering they have proper equipment to try my hands on not only computer labs but also Electrical labs also are well equipped.
- Food is amazing you will find really good food in SSU, specifically on the DEN side
Dislikes
- Sheridan has very poor navigation of class room they put the effort but you will have hard time to find to find classes
- It has so many elective but if you are a person who is interested science and math, then you will have very limited elective courses and you will have to adjust with other courses unless you booked earlier
- If you want to host any event then you have to take so many permission to make that happen
Scholarship Received
Course Curriculum
- The courses are much easier here but again, it totally depends upon your program selection and mainly on your knowledge and speed of learning.
- In my course positive part is that I got a chance to try my hand on various different lab equipment's the negative aspect can be one of the professors; there was one professor you will lose interest in studying.
Admission Experience
- I have applied to 2 colleges, including Seneca and Sheridan.
- First I got approval from Seneca after 28 days or so; I got approval from Sheridan college.
- I just applied to 2 colleges and I got approval from both of them. I did not try to apply to any other colleges because I was looking to do either a diploma or Advanced diploma. In other colleges there were not many openings for the May intake.
- The reason I chose Sheridan over Seneca is that Sheridan was closer to one of my relative's houses compared to Seneca.
- In Sheridan, first I applied with the required documents, and in Sheridan, usually they take 28 to 30 days to process your application; luckily, I got an approval within 12 days.
- Sheridan was accepting an overall 6 band and no less than a 5.5 band in any criteria for IELTS. Overall, the admission process was amazing; I did not have to juggle too much for admission.
- I applied for the summer intake in 2024 in the Advanced Diploma program of Computer Engineering Technology.
- In my case, I applied for Sheridan around the end of September 2023, and then after 30 , 12 days, I got an approval. The main factors can be the number of students and your grades from previous education. These are 2 main factors that can lead to a decision of approval and rejection.
Class Schedule
- You will have control to select courses typically 2 or 3 classes in a day.
- In my class there were 58 average students.
- 90% of my classmates are Indians.
Faculty
- There were around 10 professors for around 55 students; that does not affect much of the learning portion. Every faculty has its own method of teaching; most of them teach using PPT for visuals and try to explain the concept verbally. There are also professors who love to teach the traditional way, so they have a really good grip on explaining all concepts.
- I have not approached the professor for Job,o I do not have much of an idea about it.
- One professor of math I admire the most because of his way of teaching.
Campus Life
- College have so many events such as:
- Convocation Ceremonies – Spring 2025
- Reimagining Healthcare: Innovative Approaches to Prevent Chronic Disease
- Create, Reflect, Connect: An Interactive Art Experience
- Weekend Welding Information & Registration Sessions
- Broadway Musical Theater Intensive Registration
- RISE Up: Empowering Entrepreneurs with Sheridan EDGE
- Resume Hacks – Life After Grad
- Get Working: Job Search – Life After Grad
- Navigating Student Awards
- National Co-op and Work-Integrated Learning Month
- Sheridan had Libraries, Gym and a playground for different games.
Part Time Jobs
- There are around 30 student typically receive the teaching Assistant (TA), Research Assistant (RA), or Departmental Assistant (DA) positions
- Mostly pay rate varies upon different roles, but generally it is the minimum pay of that time.
- Other non-campus jobs are like Barista, Customer service representative and many more, in that hourly pay can vary, but generally it is the minimum pay of that time.
- 24 hours are allowed. Not very difficult.
- Students typically earn between 16 and 20 per hour , but mostly minimum wage. Currently it is not that difficult to find a part-time job because of the number of students, but still it depends on so many things, so it can vary but mostly people are getting jobs after a certain visit to the stores. For part-time job need to apply on indeed but mostly need to visit in-store.
Placement
- I would say there are quite fewer people who are able to secure a job currently after their graduation within 6 months; it can be around 20% who are able to secure a job, especially in their desired field.
- Average salary range is between 50 to 60 thousand Canadian dollar for fresher or for student
- After graduation need to have references, network with people and, most importantly skills.
- We are still in the second sem so no info on batchmates securing jobs.
Accommodation
- I found my accommodation on Facebook marketplace, most of the accommodation is available on Facebook market place , there are so many apps also for finding accommodation. In the current scenario we live in a 2-bedroom basement for rent of $1900 CAD, 4 people.
- In finding a house, we did not find much struggle to find it; we just visited a few places for that. My accommodation is 4 KM away from my college.
Exams
- IELTS or TOEFL can be valid for most of the courses. Some program accept PTE.
- SAT/ACT is not required, but some undergraduate students may be asked for that.
- GRE/GMAT for graduate programmes for business and for engineering fields.
- In the documentation, it required all proof of your previous education and any English Proficiency Test certificate and there was no interview for my course.
Fees
- Fees varies for every course; for my course, you can say $9,100 CAD average , which include health insurance
- Fees are charged on a semester basis for every semester; it is around $9,100 CAD.
- If you are not living within walking distance from college, then travel charges are around 140 for adults and 118 for people aged 19 or below.
- In monthly Expense as per current condition rent is around 450+ 140 (travel cost) + 150 (Grocery cost on average)so total would be 740 per month
Scholarship
- Yes, there are multiple scholarship programs; I received one from the Sheridan Student Union. Eligibility Criteria was that you needed to break down your finances and must have a GPA above 2.5. I received $500 CAD for that period of time. There are so many students who received scholarships in a year; it totally depends on the donor in that year but it can be around 100 or more.
