Likes
- For doing masters in university the fees are less compared to the university which are on main land. The expertise that this university provides helps develop projects which are extracting oil offshore. Experienced professor make it easy to participate in international conferences and new research work which is being conducted.
Dislikes
- Although being a renowned institute producing multiple branch engineers this university is in remote location. Because of being in remote location it limit the industrial exposure and sometime this hurdles the incoming companies.
Required Exams for Admission
Studying and completing your graduation in university is one of the never miss experience. Accumulation of study academic and involvement of extra activities makes it worth a try.
Course Curriculum
Yes it is based on the actual industry process. Final project is to be done using real life data and participating in research providing lab facility.
Faculty
The maximum number of student per class is 60 not more than that. In some subjects it doesn't even feel crowded. Professor are humble, polite and very approachable. Of course they are busy with their schedule but during their office hours you can meet them and interact openly.
Campus Life
The best thing about this campus is interconnectivity of all the buildings. There is a tunnel which connects canteen to class, lab to library, during winter this tunnel becomes very useful. There are many other activities like gym, indoor playground and swimming pool which are free to access for students.
Placement
Students do get placed in SLB, suncor or shell which are top most international oil company. The advantages of doing masters is degree credit and research work. But it also have disadvantage like not having mandatory internship which can help you gain industrial exposure.
Accommodation
Rental are cheap compared to other mainland province but again payrate is also low. For students I would say either your work or your university should be near to your home. Here easy access to bus is necessary.
Exams
There were basic requirements like SOP, undergrad above 7 CGPA and IELTS 6.5 band. I was having 8.9 CGPA and IELTS 7.5 band in year 2022. SOP, 3 LOR from college , CV are must to be submitted stating that how your undergrad branch is related to masters branch and how you will use your knowledge and skills to complete the requirement of current market.
