What Students Say
Likes
- Very diverse. My course structure provide enough time to work and study. The faculty are very helpful, they guide you through out the course for internships, job fairs and provide you reference if you are applying individually.
Dislikes
- There's nothing much to dislike about my university. My course doesn't allow to apply for Research assistantship or Teaching Assistantship. Even we don't have Co-op. Apart from that, my university is one of the best.
Required Exams for Admission
My University experience is good. My first 2 months were worst, later its a piece of cake. I've applied for 6 Universities. Got admitted in all of them. But Ualberta is ranked #4 in Canada. So, i choose this.
Course Curriculum
My course curriculum changes every year or two according to the industry requirements. They add or remove topics depending on job requirements.
Faculty
Our faculty are research oriented. Each one of them have at least 20-30yrs experience in both research and teaching.
Campus Life
We have plenty of clubs to join. And wide range of events take place. We have 3 libraries on campus (we can also borrow books from other universities if needed). Infrastructure is very well built to withstand harsh climates. UWS (University Wifi Service) is available across the city. Our sports facility (Van-Villet Complex) has all major activities like swimming, gym, volleyball, basketball, football ground, lacrosse, ice hockey, badminton, etc. We are also provided with Arc Card (transit pass). It can used for both busses and trains.
Placement
For Post graduates, we have to find jobs individually. But our faculties would be more than happy to help us in that. So that won't be an issue excluding recession.
Accommodation
My room is shared accommodation. We live 6 people in our condo. The rent is 1670$ (270$/head) Groceries are 1200$ (200$/head) Wifi 90$ (15$/head) Electricity depends. We have winter rebates, where our price for each unit is reduced by 40%. Other miscellaneous expenses would 100-200$ In Total, average spend for a person would be 750-1000$
Exams
SOP and LOR are must. Since i flew soon after my undergrad, all my LOR's are Academic. In Sop, it must be clear about your long term and short term goals after graduating from particular course. Also include "why this university, not any other". So please do some research on university beforehand. In LOR, it must be short and crisp. The Referee must showcase all the pros of giving you admission in that University.
Fees
Approx 30,000 CAD. (Full course) Which is equal to around 19 Lakhs.
