It was very comprehensive for the most part. There are some areas in animal biology that need further refining. Yes, research experience was offered to those who wish to seek it.
For a BSc and honours total cost is $24,000AUD. This will double or triple for foreign students.
The course curriculum is great. There is a lot of involvement and support through the tutors and mentors at the university. You can choose some majors and various alternatives in the program.
The fee structure has a standard university fee schedule. Payment is required before commencement if not an Australian citizen. Scholarships can be applied through the university. The scholarships can be applied pre-start or after starting a course at the university. The university payment can be paid under a HECS loan.
Currently, I'm in my 2nd year of the course. The best thing about the faculty of business and law have some great professors and lecture staffs. Usually, most of the course's lectures are recorded and there is an allocated time for workshops, where students can discuss and solve problem questions on the particular topic. This could be great for students to revise the learning and understand the topic with real life case studies with some great teaching staffs.
The fee have to be paid before the census date for each semester for the course and the fee structure for each program changes every year. There are few scholarships for international students at University of Newcastle, but there is some scholars for academic excellence, to keep up the Distinction grade.
Very good, very helpful. It can be slightly unprepared particularly with timetabling issues. Good supportive staff, mostly doctors so they know what we are going through.
I think it's $5,500 per semester which can be put on hex/help if you're a domestic student. There are also many scholarship opportunities for financially disadvantaged students or rural students who need to be relocated. Most people opt for hex as there aren't too many international students but I am not aware of the increased fees for those people.
Very happy with the curriculum- it has a wide range of topics and covers all needed knowledge bases. There is a good amount of practical engagement included in the course curriculum. There are sometimes perhaps too many courses expected to be completed within one semester, but they do have part-time options too.
Other than course fees, we are charged $150 a semester for amenities and other facility charges. Other than those, each course has a designated price that stacks up and is added to our HECS debt. We then can pay the tuition fees off once we have a stable job and are earning a particular amount of money.
I think the uni should have sent us on practical in a school setting earlier - we did not teach until we had been at uni for 2 years. The first year subjects were not particularly useful - they focused on each of the key learning areas - since having just completed high school I was still familiar with most of these topics. They also taught things like advanced maths so we could feel what it's like to learn maths instead of teaching us what we need to teach and ways to teach it.
The HELP Debt is the main part of fees - that pays for classes, teachers, classrooms, etc. The government can loan you the HELP Debt which means you don\ t pay any of this until you start making enough money. Student Services Fees each semester - I think they're around $100 a semester - cover things like microwaves, water, paths, outdoor seating Resources - each semester the teachers set required resources such as textbooks which you need to purchase for the course. Textbooks can cost a couple of hundred dollars. Depending on the course and subject will have different requirements. Some resources can be bought second hand. Graduation fee - $200ish - covers your ticket + 3 guests + hire of graduation outfit.
