- provide students with a broad understanding of the tourism and events industries, both in Australia and worldwide.
- introduce the concepts behind tourism and events fields and examine how they reflect the arts, culture and/or heritage of a place.
- develop a framework for tourism or events management with the opportunity to apply this framework to specific case studies both on and offshore.

- A masters degree with a research component from an Australian university or its equivalent.
- The equivalent of an Australian bachelors degree with second class honours or better undertaken in the field of study students intend to pursue in their proposed masters program.
