  • Masters covers the practical and theoretical aspects of chemistry, as well as providing an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities and an awareness of social, economic, cultural and environmental aspects of chemistry in a global community.
  • Projects and coursework have been designed to address topical concerns in industry and society, preparing you for further enrolment in a research degree or employment in chemistry-related fields.
  • Chemistry graduates may start careers as analysts, research chemists, and may be employed in the wine, pharmaceutical, paint, mining, petroleum and automotive industries.
  • Potential occupations include scientist, graduate research officer, forensic chemist, development chemist, analytical chemist, industrial chemist, laboratory chemist, project officer, research scientist, laboratory technician, teacher, data analyst, system analyst, insurance analysis and IP assessor.
  • The program contains both coursework and research components with a research project. The course is flexible and gives you the opportunity to select coursework topics from a range of disciplines and elective topics in areas including nanotechnology, clean technology, polymer science, and ethics, and as well as in various branches of chemistry.
  • You will undertake advanced theoretical topics as well as gaining exposure to advanced research skills before undertaking a research project.

  • A masters degree with a research component from an Australian university or its equivalent.
  • The equivalent of an Australian bachelors degree with second class honours or better undertaken in the field of study students intend to pursue in their proposed masters program.
