What Students Say
Likes
- Location of the college
- Teaching curriculum
- Student Benefits
Dislikes
- Some type of assessment conducting some grading systems particular to a subject
- TA unresponsiveness after tutorials in mails
- theory subject professors are very negligent
Course Curriculum
- Difficulty is 4/5, including theory and practical curriculum
- Not much of relevance to the outer market, the rest everything is good, it depends upon you as a student to select their time table & set uni days for three, four, five, or however many they wish to attend classes. We keep two days fully packed mornings to evenings, & use the rest of the days for part-time.
- Usual timings would be 8 am to 7 pm, the hub is open 24 hrs to work if you wish for
- 40-50 per class, sometimes even less, depending on the course; we have many Indians in our course
Admission Experience
- I applied to three Universities - The University of Western Australia ( waitlisted ) , The University of Adelaide ( admitted ), The University of Melbourne ( waitlisted )
- The University of Adelaide, The University of Melbourne - admission received, but Melbourne takes a lot of time.
- The University of Western Australia - because an immediate family was already there
- Good pathway to PR
- Bonus points for regional
- Extra years in tr
- More chances in a growing state.
- Apply with all the mentioned documents, Admitted mail, GTE interview via call, and visa drop.
- Celts most preferred & easy acceptance mine is 8.0, not sure what the basic score is, I have classmates who entered with pre too.
- Admission is smooth, but it is better when all documents are submitted at once only otherwise, it takes a lot of time.
- July, spring-summer intake
- My workplace confirmation took time, visa time, cause the systems were hacked, etc, at that time they mentioned
- More than six months, even when applied all on time, 3 months for uni decision, 1 month for document verification, 1 month for loan & fee payment, 1 month for processing & visa drop, cause Australians only work on business days ( Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm).
Faculty
- 1:4, but professors are always in contact via mail some teaching assistants are too.
- Some subjects are, but some are not. If you really want to secure a job, I would suggest getting a TA.
- I think so, but mostly they help their own communities here, like Sri Lankans, Bangladeshis, etc, but no one really cares for others.
- The core faculty is really good, their standards are exceptional, and the way they handle things is great. We also share lunch who have different countries' cuisines
Campus Life
- It has 3 campuses, North Terrace Campus, Rosewater Campus, Waite Campus, all in Adelaide, but different locations/ corners
- library, games in the hub central, student kitchen in hub central, youX tests which have photo booths, free lunches, games days, cultural nights, free uni medicare for students, mental health helpline
- Youx club has most festivals which are available in all campuses. They have festivals for every kind of event & occasion.
Part Time Jobs
- It has 3: North Terrace Campus, Rosewater campus, Waite Campus, all in Adelaide, but different locations/ corners
- library, games in the hub central, student kitchen in hub central, youX tests which have photo booths, free lunches, games days, cultural nights, free uni medicare for students, mental health helpline
- Youx club has most festivals which are available in all campuses. They have festivals for every kind of event & occasion.
- In hospitality and retailers, starting from 27 for permanent part-time, 33 for casual part-time, in the very start, it is really difficult, but if we keep correct connections, then it is easy comparatively when they refer. Resume drops, online portals, but mostly accepted if a referral is provided, no special skills required, only basic communication is good enough.
Placement
- 50%
- Not sure as many join as construction cadets, which do not have a package but paid on a project basis
- internships, cadetships, volunteering hours, networking, LinkedIn, career expos. We have not graduated yet, and we are trying to find internships at the moment. I have a senior who works at Sarah's construction at the moment.
- Sarah, John Holland, Hindmarsh, McMahon.
Accommodation
- Initially, when I came, I stayed with a distant relative, but you have platforms like flatmates & mostly people here use Facebook marketplace.
- 190*4=760 AUD per month, including internet, furnished room, and bills are calculated separately quarterly according to usage, close to uni costs a very unreasonable amount, but in Adelaide, due to transportation problems, far away costs cheap, but takes time to travel.
- Use WhatsApp groups, Facebook marketplace, and flatmates to find accommodation
- They rent individual houses with friends
Exams
- IELTS, pre-IELTS are mostly accepted, but IELTS gives preference due to credibility
- Resume, Cover letter, why do you wanna get in?, Statement of purpose not required, but a form with similar questions called the GTE form is given & you have to answer all pages in it, which includes bio data to assets, finances, contacts, reasons, etc., a recommendation letter comes in handy, mostly three should do.
- Yes, it is. After submitting the GTE form, it will be reviewed, and a five-minute call will be scheduled to know the purpose of study & why their university or why Australia, kind of questions asked on behalf of the university to get the COE.
Fees
- Tuition fee per credit course, but charged semesterly
- No hostel, students' amenities fee is charged, which is loaded into the student ID card to charge for lockers, printers in the university, and volunteer membership, only if you choose to
- Fee is paid semester-wise wise 3 credits 2500 AUD, 3 subjects - 3*3*2500=22,500 AUD total semester course fee- example
- 1300 AUD/month including rent, transportation, eating out, groceries, and shopping.
Scholarship
- Commonwealth scholarship (good CGPA & work experience not mandatory)
- 15% per subject fee
- Yes, there are people who got 30% too. I only met one TA who is on a 100% scholarship for his research.
- Also, if you apply to be a TA, then you get the benefits of increased scholarship & fee reduction, free uni services, etc
- Not sure, but mostly international students with good undergrad CGPA do get scholarships most of the time.
