The Santoor Scholarship is a program for young women belonging to underprivileged classes who want to pursue education after 10+2. It has been jointly initiated by Wipro Cares and Wipro Consumer Care & Lightning. The amount is INR 24,000 in a year for graduation in any discipline at a recognised educational institution located in the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh or Telangana. As understood from the scholarship, Wipro is playing an important role in terms of supporting higher education for disadvantaged young women after school so that they are not deprived of their objectives with respect to academics. Its main objective is to support at least nine hundred underprivileged young women to continue their education after 10+2. It was launched in the academic year 2016-17 and till now, three thousand six hundred under privileged young girls have benefited through the program.

Santoor Scholarship Eligibility

  • Only available for young women who are disadvantaged and belong to the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh or Telangana.
  • Should have passed 10th from a school under the local government
  • Should have passed 10+2 from a school under the local government or from a junior college in the academic year 2020-21
  • Should have registered for a program at the graduate level on a full-time basis in the academic year 2021-22
  • The duration of such graduate program should be at least three years
  • Gap year is also taken into consideration if the student passed 10+2 in the academic year 2019-20 and enrolled into a graduate program for the academic year 2021-22

Santoor Scholarship Benefits

The disadvantaged young girls who would win the Santoor Scholarship would be awarded INR 24,000 per year till the completion of their undergraduate degree course. Such an amount can be used not only to cover tuition fees but also other costs and outlays related to education.

Santoor Scholarship: How to Apply?

  • Applications are to be made offline
  • The prescribed application form needs to be duly filled and submitted offline
  • The deadline needs to be adhered to by the applicant in order to be considered for the Santoor Scholarship program
  • The documents to be enclosed with the form are mentioned below
  • Before filling the form, the instructions need to be read carefully by the applicant as major errors may lead to the rejection of applications 
  • The offline applications need to be sent by post or courier to Wipro Cares-Santoor Scholarship, Doddakannelli, Sarjapur Road, Bangalore-560 035

  • One passport size colour photograph which should be recent
  • Photocopy of the first two pages of the bank passbook of the applicant (any bank other than Grameen Bank)

Ques. Are men eligible for the Santoor Scholarship?

Ans. No. The Santoor Scholarship is for young underprivileged women who would like to pursue their graduation in any discipline at a recognised educational institution located in the states of Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. 

Ques. Can students in their second and third year of undergraduate degree apply for the Santoor Scholarship? 

Ans. No. Only the students who have been registered in the first year of undergraduate degree programs at recognised educational institutions are eligible to make applications for the Santoor Scholarship.

Ques. Is the gap year after 10+2 considered for application regarding the Santoor Scholarship?

Ans. Yes. A gap year after 10+2 is acceptable for the Santoor Scholarship. For example, students who passed 10+2 in the academic year 2019-20 and are starting their studies in their respective undergraduate degree in the academic year 2021-22 can apply for the Santoor Scholarship.

Ques. Can students who have passed Class 10 and 12 from any school apply for the Santoor Scholarship?

Ans. No. Students should have studied Class 10 at a local government school and Class 12 at a local government school or a junior college in order to be eligible for the Santoor Scholarship.

Ques. How will the amount regarding the Santoor Scholarship be received by the scholars who have been selected for the program?

Ans. The amount regarding the Santoor Scholarship would be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the scholars selected for the program. The students should hold their accounts preferably in any of the nationalised banks of India. However, the account details of Grameen Bank are not acceptable. Therefore, if a selected scholar holds an account at Grameen Bank, the details of the account would not be taken into consideration.

Ans. No. The Santoor Scholarship program is for underprivileged young women who have been enrolled into any graduate program in educational institutions in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana.
