Indian Oil Scholarship is offered to candidates who wish to pursue higher education. The scholarship is offered by Indian Oil Corporation Limited to promote higher education among students of all sections of society under the IOCL Educational Scholarship Scheme. Candidates who are pursuing 10+, ITI, MBBS, Engineering and MBA streams can avail of the scholarship. The scholarship is offered based on merit cum means basis for all the meritorious students who secure merit in the qualifying exam. The scholarship caters to all the sections of the society and candidates belonging to every category have an equal opportunity to acquire the scholarship. Special emphasis is given to female candidates to promote higher education in them. IOCL has a total of 2600 scholarships out of which 2000 scholarships are for 10+ or ITI students, 300 scholarships for engineering courses, 200 for MBBS and 100 scholarships for MBA courses. The distribution of several scholarships for 10+ and ITI courses vary depending on the number of applicants from each state.
Indian Oil Scholarship Dates
IOCL Scholarship begins the registration in July and wraps up the process by November. The important dates to avail of the scholarship are listed below:

Indian Oil Scholarship Eligibility
Candidates aiming to apply to the scholarship must check the general and course-specific eligibility that IOCL has set to process any application to the scholarship. The eligibility requirements are as follows:
Indian Oil Scholarship General Eligibility
- Candidates who are pursuing a full-time course are only eligible. Candidates registered with any correspondence/distance education and online mode of education will not be considered for the scholarship.
- Candidates must be studying in a recognized educational institution. Candidates registered with an institution recognized by MCI/AICTE/State Education Board/State Technical Education Board/ICSE/ISC/CBSE can only apply to the IOCL scholarship program.
- The annual income of the parents of applicants must not exceed INR 1,00,000. Candidates will be required to show proof of the same during application.
- IOCL follows the reservation criteria according to which 15% of scholarships are reserved for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST candidates, 27% for OBC, candidates 25% for female candidates and 10% for PWD candidates.
- The applicant must be at least 15 years old during the time of application and the maximum age limit set by IOCL is 30years for all the courses. The age limit relaxation for OBC candidates is 3 years, for SC/ST candidates is 5years and for PwD candidates is 10years.
Indian Oil Scholarship Course Specific Eligibility
- For Class 10+ course: Candidates must have qualified Class 10th Board exam and should be studying in Class 11th from a recognized educational institution. The minimum eligibility of marks required in the Class 10th Board exam is 65% for general candidates, 60% for SC/ST/OBC/Girl candidates and 50% for PwD candidates.
- For the ITI course: Candidates must be in the first year of a regular and full-time ITI course offered by a recognized institute. The minimum eligibility of marks required in the Class 10th Board exam is 65% for general candidates, 60% for SC/ST/OBC/Girl candidates and 50% for PwD candidates.
- For Engineering courses: Candidates must be in the first year of a four year engineering course from a recognized university. The course must be in regular/full-time mode only. The minimum eligibility of marks required in the Class 12th exam is 65% for general candidates, 60% for SC/ST/OBC/Girl candidates and 50% for PwD candidates.
- For MBBS Course: Candidates must be in the first year of a minimum four year MBBS course offered by a recognized institute. The course must be in regular/full-time mode only. The minimum eligibility of marks required in the Class 12th exam is 65% for general candidates, 60% for SC/ST/OBC/Girl candidates and 50% for PwD candidates.
- For MBA course: Candidates must have completed their undergraduate course and should be in the first year of a full-time regular MBA program offered by a recognized institute. The minimum eligibility of marks required in the graduation exam is 65% for general candidates, 60% for SC/ST/OBC/Girl candidates and 50% for PwD candidates.
Indian Oil Scholarship Benefits

- Candidates will be able to continue their higher education without thinking much about the course expenses. Many meritorious students who have to give up on their education due to financial constraints will be helped by this scholarship program.

Indian Oil Scholarship: How to apply?
Candidates need to follow certain steps to apply to the IOCL scholarship 2021. These steps for application are as follows:
- Visit the official website of IOCL www.iocl.com and locate the IOCL scholarship application form page.
- Enter all mandatory details (name, father’s name, address, email id etc.) and verify if the entered data is correct.
- Submit the application form after validating the input data.
- A registration number will be displayed on the screen after successful application and candidates need to note down the same for future purposes.
- Candidates need to save a copy of the application form and take a print of the same if and when required.
- The login details will be sent over to the registered email id.

Ques. I already have a scholarship from a different scheme, am I still eligible for the Indian Oil Scholarship?
Ans. No, candidates who have already obtained another scholarship are not eligible to apply to the Indian Oil Scholarship scheme. Such candidates should not apply as the scheme is directed to provide equal educational opportunities for underprivileged sections of society. Candidates must keep in mind that providing false and inappropriate information/documents to IOCL shall attract legal measures IOCL.
Ques. I am in B.Com first year. Can I apply to the Indian Oil Scholarship scheme?
Ans. Candidates who are either in the first year of any engineering course or MBBS course can only apply to the Indian Oil Scholarship scheme. Undergraduate candidates from any other course are ineligible to apply for the scholarship.
