Kerala Polytechnic Admission is done based on merit in the previous qualifying examination i.e. class 12. There is no entrance exam conducted to offer Kerala Polytechnic Admission 2024. Department of Technical Education (DTE), Kerala conducts the Kerala Polytechnic Admission 2024. Kerala Polytechnic Courses are offered in various Engineering and Non – Engineering as well as Commercial Practice and Management trades. 

DTE Kerala offers admission for two streams i.e. Diploma in Engineering & Technology and a Diploma in Commercial Practice and a Diploma in Computer Application & Business Management. The duration of the Kerala Polytechnic courses is 3 years which is sometimes followed by practical training. Students should note that the Kerala Polytechnic Trial allotment is out for regular candidates.

Kerala Polytechnic Admission 2024: Eligibility Criteria

The following points should be checked to determine whether a candidate is eligible for Kerala Polytechnic admission 2024.

  • The candidate should be an Indian citizen.
  • The candidate must be a domicile of Kerala state or have undertaken the qualifying examination from an institution in Kerala.
  • The candidate should have passed the SSC or THSLC or equivalent examination
  • Candidates must have Mathematics, English, and Science as mandatory subjects.
  • For CBSE/ ICSE/ Open school candidates, the marks/grades obtained in Science are considered for calculating grades in the place of Physics and Chemistry. 
  • CBSE school candidates who have passed the qualifying examination with Maths are eligible for Kerala Polytechnic admission 2024.

The mode of filling out the application form is only online. All interested candidate needs to follow the following steps to apply for Kerala Polytechnic admission 2024:

  • Candidates need to fill out the application form available on the website carefully by going through all the instructions and after checking the eligibility criteria.
  • Fill in all the necessary details such as educational qualifications and personal information carefully.
  • Upload the required documents and photos in the prescribed format and pay the application fees through debit/credit/net banking modes.

Kerala Polytechnic Admission 2024: Seat Allotment Process

The candidates whose names are enlisted in the merit list will be called for the Seat allotment process. The Centralised Allotment Process will be done through the Single Window System (SWS) to give allotment to various programs in the Polytechnic colleges based on the options/ re-options chosen by the candidates. 

  • Candidates can exercise options to a maximum number of 30 of their choice (program and institution combination).
  • There will be three allotment processes. The allotment lists will be published on the admission websites. If there are vacancies left after the three allotments, Spot admissions may be conducted to fill up the remaining seats.
  • The candidate who wishes to join the allotted option should report to the allotted Polytechnic College with an allotment letter and pay the required fee.
  • The candidate should submit the documents at the institution and receive the admission slip and receipt.
  • If a candidate does not join in the allotted option in the final allotment round within the stipulated time, that allotment will get cancelled.

Categorization of Seats

The various categories of diploma seats getting filled in Kerala are mentioned below.

  • Merit Seats: These seats get allotted through the State Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research (SITTTR). These seats will be available in all the Government/ Government Aided and Private Self-financing Polytechnic Colleges.
  • Management Seats in Aided Polytechnic Colleges: The seats that are filled up by the concerned management personnel in the aided institutions. 15% of the total intake is reserved under this category. The selection process is subjected to approval by the Regional Joint Director or the Deputy Director of the respective region.
  • Management Seats in Private Self-Financing Polytechnic Colleges: The seats that are set apart in the Self-Financing Programmes are to be filled up by the management of the institution. 50% of the sanctioned intake of each Programme is set apart under this category.
