NCERT does not rank students on raw CEE marks alone. The composite score that determines your merit position is derived from the following weighted formula:

Example: A student scoring 100 out of 160 in CEE (62.5%) and 80% in Class 12 earns a composite of (62.5 × 0.60) + (80 × 0.40) = 37.5 + 32 = 69.5. A student with only 80 out of 160 in CEE (50%) but 90% in Class 12 scores (50 × 0.60) + (90 × 0.40) = 30 + 36 = 66. The higher CEE score earns the better composite rank even against stronger board marks.
