Dr. Surendra Kumar Jain has been working as the Director of Truba College of Science and Technology, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh since 2021. He is an experienced professional of Pharmacy education and has served key leadership roles for 20+ years. As part of his education, he has done B. Pharm, M.Pharm and PhD in Pharmacy from Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidyalaya.

Also, before joining Truba College, he was working as the Director of SIRT - Pharmacy for close to 12 years. And in these challenging roles, he managed both administrative and academic aspects and also contributed significantly to research and development. Apart from this, Dr. Surendra has worked as Principal of Ravishankar College of Pharmacy and as a Lecturer in various esteemed institutions.

What keeps you connected with the education sector and how has your experience been so far with the Truba Institute?

The biggest factor behind my long association with the education sector is my dedication and commitment to shaping the future of our nation by teaching youths and advancing my own knowledge. And my experience as a Director of Truba College has been incredibly fulfilling. And witnessing the intellectual and professional growth of our students, alongside the innovative contributions of our faculty, is the driving force behind my passion. 

Other than this, the institute has a dynamic academic environment and its core focus is on research and collaboration with leading industries, which perfectly align with my vision for comprehensive education. Hence, I would say that navigating challenges and celebrating successes alongside a dedicated team reinforces my connection to the transformative impact that education has on individuals and society, making my role as a director both enriching and purpose-driven.


Being the Director of Truba Institute, what is your philosophy of leadership? 

My philosophy of leadership is based on and revolves around inspiring people, collaboration and continuous growth. Therefore, I always make sure to have a supportive and inclusive environment for my team so that each of them feel heard and their strengths can be acknowledged and cultivated accordingly. 

Apart from this, I also promote the culture of open communication and active listening as both are an integral component of effective leadership. Last but not the least, I encourage innovation, critical thinking, and a commitment to excellence. And leading by example, I aim to instill a shared sense of purpose and pride in our collective achievements. 


How do you strategize the key programs for the administration of your institute?

For the effective administration of our institution, I conduct a thorough research and assessment about our requirements and then align our plans with Truba’s mission. In addition to this, resource optimization and inclusion of all stakeholders in college important affairs drives our decision making process.

We have also adopted the latest technologies to streamline processes and our focus on quality assurance ensures continual improvement. Then, to promote a collaborative work environment, we have prioritized staff professional development and transparent communication among everyone. Lastly, regulatory compliance and risk management strategies underpin our institution stability and continuous evaluation allows adaptive responses to evolving educational landscapes, ensuring the institute's sustained excellence and relevance.


How does the curriculum of your institute ensure the best practices of industry?

Our institute's curriculum has industry best practices to ensure graduates are adept at navigating the ever-evolving professional landscape. Also, to get firsthand insight of current trends, technologies and challenges and shaping our courses in accordance with their demands, we regularly interact and collaborate with top-notch industry leaders. Then to provide valuable guidance and ensure curriculum alignment with real-world expectations, we have a dedicated Advisory Board consisting of seasoned professionals. 

And to fill any possible gaps between students' skills and companies' needs and ensure seamless transition of students in the corporate world, we arrange practical training and internships for students and also assign them industrial projects to get hands-on experience from time to time. Last but not the least, we organize guest lectures and workshops by inviting industry experts to educate our students about cutting-edge technologies, enriching their overall learning experience and preparing them for a successful career.

As a Director of the Truba, what are your key responsibilities towards the institute students?

Being the Director of Truba Institute, my foremost responsibility is steering the institute towards academic excellence and holistic development of students. Along with this, I am charged with formulating strategic visions, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and fostering a dynamic teaching-learning environment on campus. Faculty and staff management, effective resource allocation, and strategic planning also falls under my purview. 

Hence, prioritizing the welfare of students, I aim to create an inclusive, innovative, and globally-oriented educational experience. And my role involves constant adaptation to industry trends, promoting research initiatives, and maintaining an overall conducive atmosphere that empowers students to excel academically and professionally. 


Any suggestions which you would like to give to the aspiring students of Pharmacy?

I would like to advise my dear and ambitious students to embrace curiosity, persistence and a commitment towards excellence. Because, in the dynamic field of Pharmacy, continuous learning and a passion for innovation are keys to a successful and fulfilling career.
