PMIST B.Tech Eligibility Criteria
For admission to the B.Tech programme at PMIST for the academic year 2026:
- Candidates must have successfully completed 10+2 (or an equivalent examination) from a recognised board, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as mandatory subjects.
- Candidates must secure a minimum aggregate of 45% in PCM (40% for SC/ST/OBC reserved categories).
- Diploma holders are eligible to apply for lateral entry (2nd year) provided they secure a minimum of 45% marks (40% for reserved categories).
- B.Tech (Hons.): Students can register from the 3rd semester if they have passed 1st and 2nd semesters in the first attempt with a minimum 8.0 CGPA. Lateral entry students must complete two additional courses.
- Age limit: Typically 17-21 years (confirm in official bulletin).

PMIST Selection Criteria
B.Tech. (Regular)/B.Tech. (Hons.)
- Preference will be given to candidates qualifying in PMIST Entrance Examination (PMESE 2024 conducted by PMIST) or JEE-Mains 2024 or Uniguage 2024 or any other State/National level Entrance Examination conducted by competent authority.
- Admission to the B.Tech programme is based on a merit list prepared using the normalized cut-off marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
B.Tech. (Lateral Entry)/B.Tech. (Hons.)
- Candidates who have completed a Diploma recognized by DOTE can get direct admission into the 2nd year of B.Tech (Lateral Entry). The number of seats for lateral entry is up to 10% of the approved intake, in addition to the regular seats and any unfilled first-year seats.

B.Tech Admission Process (2026)
- candidates can apply for admission through JEE Main 2026, the university’s own entrance exam (PMUET), or TNEA counselling if candidates are applying under the Tamil Nadu quota.

Ques3. What is the registration process for B.Tech Honours at PMIST?
Ans- Students who meet the eligibility criteria can register for the B.Tech Honours qualification by submitting a prescribed application form to the respective Head of Department (HoD) along with the application fee. Applications must be submitted within 15 days after the official notification by the Institute. There is no limit on the number of students who can register for Honours. The Dean (Academic Courses) will notify the approved students within one week of application. Once approved, students must pay a one-time non-refundable registration fee to confirm their registration for the Honours programme.

Ans- PMIST has four hostels. Three of them — Annai Nagammaiyar, Vittobai, and Swarna Renganathan — are for women and can accommodate around 2,000 female students. Ans- PMU releases semester results on its official website after the completion of examinations. Students needs to regularly check the website for updates. Ques7. What scholarships does PMIST offer and what are the rules for eligibility and continuation?
Ans- PMIST offers scholarships to support students based on academic performance. For B.Tech programs, scholarships (up to ₹2,50,000) are awarded based on 12th-grade marks and JEE or PMIST Entrance Test scores. For B.Com, BA, BBA, B.Ed, and BSc programs, scholarships (up to ₹15,000) are based on 12th-grade marks and the PMIST Entrance Test. To continue receiving the scholarship, students must pass all subjects and maintain at least 80% attendance. Students who discontinue the program must refund the scholarship before a Transfer Certificate (TC) is issued. The management’s decision on scholarships is final.
