The major prepares students for professional or graduate work in statistics and computer science, and for applications of computing in which knowledge of statistics is particularly important, such as data mining and machine learning.
The Bachelor of Science Degree in Statistics will prepare students for careers in business, industry, or government, and for further graduate study in statistics or in a related area. Students with strong interest in computing in addition to statistics might also consider the combined degree in statistics and computer science or the certificate in computational science and engineering.
