Ball State offers a traditional master of science program requiring a thesis and a master of arts program designed to prepare you to pass the National Association of State Boards of Geology tests and pursue an environment-related career. Whatever choice you make, you?ll benefit from our experienced faculty members who have extensive background in all areas of the continental United States as well as Great Britain, France, Germany, Peru, Brazil, New Zealand, China, Korea, Japan, and Antarctica.
Our comprehensive facilities include state-of-the-art equipment and research labs for tectonics and volcanic petrology, water quality and geochemistry, geophysics/hydrology, sedimentary geology, fluvial processes, and computer graphics and mapping. Each summer, Ball State heads to the Rocky Mountains for a five-week field camp, where you can collect field samples, make field observations, prepare geologic maps, and more.
