  • This concentration is designed to foster an interdisciplinary, research-oriented degree focusing on the conservation of threatened species and habitats, integrating biological sciences and the human dimensions of conservation practice.
  • Students may take courses offered by the Department of Environmental Science and Policy and other departments, including CONS courses which are offered through the Smithsonian Mason School of Conservation. This unique partnership with the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation (SMSC) in Front Royal, Virginia offers students hands-on education in cutting-edge conservation science and human dimensions through residential, intensive classes.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility: 

  • Students must have completed a baccalaureate degree from a recognized institution.
  • Students required a 3.0 Grade Point Average on a 4.0 scale in undergraduate work.
  • Students are expected to have completed a degree in engineering, business, computer science, or information technology, with foundational competence in calculus, statistics, and computer programming.

Language Requirments:

  • Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.
