As a major at the University of South Carolina, you will benefit from challenging courses led by outstanding faculty members. You may also work with a faculty research mentor and explore a variety of research and practicum opportunities in the department. Research is generally divided into experimental, clinical/community and school programs. You can work with children, adolescents, adults or animals studying phenomenon such as ADHD, behavioral interventions, deception, decision-making, depression, drugs of abuse, fetal alcohol syndrome, neurodegenerative diseases, physical activity and mental health to name a few.

You will gain hands-on experience through internships and research opportunities. Each summer, 10 undergraduate students are given the opportunity to experience the Summer Research Experience in Brain and Cognitive Sciences, through which they will engage in research seminars, laboratory exercises and one-on-one laboratory projects in this area of research.

Academic Requirements:
