Campus Life

  • We had many cultural groups and a very active student body who hosted parties for all festivals of all cultures. I got to experience Latin, Greek, Jewish, Catholic, Chinese and Korean cultures through foods, movies, dance parties and music parties. We did not have any 1 major festival. Only small celebrations that lasted only 1 day.
  • We also celebrated Pride month and had activities around that.

  • I chose off-campus accommodation with some friends I had in the US. My college’s dorms were at a different campus, which was far from the building my classes were at. It was also more expensive and limiting. We found apartments from online websites such as apartments.com and it was not too difficult for me to find one, as it was a period right out of covid and condo owners were hungry to let out their apartments. My accommodation was 15 mins away from colleges and most Indian students stayed where I did because of the cost.

Average rent for a shared space in New York is anywhere between $750-1200 (on the LOWER end of the spectrum in Brooklyn or Queens. It can sit in the $1600-2400+ range if you're looking at spaces in Manhattan. This is excluding facilities). A studio apartment starts at $2200 per month. On campus accommodation sells out early and the cheapest is $1000 but includes everything - gas, wifi, heating, electricity, water)

It's among the top ten schools in the WORLD for art & design education. They have a beautiful campus in Brooklyn, NY. I chose it because of the city. I had access to the best design studios, museums, art shows, live music performances, theatre, history and architecture. It really fueled my education.
