They have one of the best nursing schools and a great medical reputation. They provide lots of opportunities for research. UAB is very diverse and welcoming to every student that comes there. It feels like a home away from home!
Course Curriculum
They have a great course curriculum. The teachers keep it interesting, and what they teach can be applied to the workforce. I have the opportunity to enjoy learning, and I am academically challenged in many subjects!
Exams
I took the ACT test and made a 26. Although it seems like a high testing grade, it receives minimal financial aid.
Placement
Very well! The University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital has a large staff of nurses and are always hiring more. Students in the UAB nursing program are almost always guaranteed a job after graduation!
Internship
Yes, my college provides an internship for nursing students and the university hospital. The nursing students are able to receive hands-on learning to further their understanding and education. It helps students understand the textbooks they are reading for their classes.
Events
My college celebrated diversity, anniversary, and all religions and genders. They are very welcoming to all. They are always willing to branch out to include more people groups into the college. UAB is one of the most diverse colleges in the state.
Fees
Tuition every year costs around $21,000. This includes housing, a meal plan and lab fees. Housing and meal plans lean to the expensive side.
Scholarship
I received some financial aid from FAFSA and some from academic scholarships through the school. It adds up to less than $10,000 so I still pay a lot out of pocket.
Examination Structure
It is structured around what is best for the patient. It includes critical thinking showing that two answers could be right but one is the better answer. It teaches nursing students exactly what to do in all situations so they can be fully prepared.
Faculty
They all seem very interested in the student's futures and help them on their path to success. Each teacher genuinely wants each student to pass and will help or provide resources to help with any problems or difficulties students are having in the class.
Hostel
I live on campus and it is very convenient to be right across the lawn from my class. I will be living off campus next year because it is cheaper and will be easier to Pay in monthly installments rather than all at once.
