Course Curriculum

6

  • Course difficulty is pretty average for most of the professors and one can score good GPA in almost all of the subjects.
  • Some professors come with an exception but other than that, all are good as far as marks are concerned.

Admission Experience

  • UNCC: Rejected
    NJIT: Rejected
    Stevens: Admit
    CSUF: Admit
    UC Riverside: Admit (Comp Eng.)
    SDSU: Reject
    CSU LB: Reject

  • I think I was rejected mainly because of the competition because they didn't give any specific reason for the rejection. In UC Riverside, I applied for CS but got rejected and they offered me a CE admission. In stevens, the fees was too high and that's why i didn't go there.

  • Low fees is the main factor I chose this university as compared to my other admits. Other factor was the location. It is located in California and I always wanted to go to california due to its better job market and weather situation. They mainly required transcripts and Toefl. For us, they waived GRE and SOP LORs as well. For TOEFL, they required atleast 80 which is the standard for most of the universities

  • I applied for the Fall 2023 batch and as I mentioned the main factor for choosing this was its low fees.
Applied in December and got admit in May. They required official transcripts and hence I couriered the transcripts there. Although, you can chose to email the official transcripts as well. Other than that, they didn't give much updates regarding the application.

Class Schedule

6

  • People usually take 2/3 subjects per semester and classes are of 3hr each so accordingly their week is scheduled.
  • Students have the flexibility to choose from a range of subjects listed on the portal.
  • For Computer Science, more than 80% would be indians.

Faculty

8

  • There are usually 30 students in each class on an average and I think this is a good ratio as compared to other universities I have heard of. Professors usually follow PPT presentations for lectures and that teaching approach seems sufficient.
  • There are no faculty members that assist students with any kind of jobs be it part time or full time.
  • The professors I admire the most are Kennyt Avery and Christopher Ryu due to their knowledge in respective fields.

Campus Life

10

  • I opted in for Off-campus accommodation and I stay just opposite the university which is very convenient for students as they just have to cross the road to reach the university and don't have to follow any transportation.
  • The monthly rent is 2150 for a 1b1b apartment which is usually shared by 4 people.
  • The main challenge in the accommodation process was the communication between the apartment and us since we had to again and again call them for doubts and other communications.

Part Time Jobs

  • There are many TA opportunities in the department. The department hires Teaching Associates for the whole semester where the students are assigned a subject to teach for the whole semester. The subject is a bachelor level subject.

  • The most common job is the Dining job where most of the students work and the pay there is $16/hr. Other than this, we have a on campus university shop where many students work with a pay of $16/hr.

  • Students mostly prefer working in the Dining job because is its flexible schedule. The usual process for on campus jobs is through referral from seniors and that is one of the fastest ways to get a job.

  • Students typically earn $16/hr which is the minimum wage in California. It is easy to get a part time job on campus since there are many jobs available.

Placement

6

  • Currently, full time job opportunities are rare because of the market situations but I am hearing some people getting jobs.
  • Don't have an idea about a average salary that they are getting. Students usually find jobs through linkedin only since its the major portal for networking and connecting new people. Usually I have heard that its easier to get a full time through referrals.

Accommodation

Off Campus

Exams

  • I took the GRE and TOEFL. CSUF didn't require GRE in which I scored 301.
  • They required TOEFL in which I got a total of 87. At my time, they didn't require much documents other that transcripts and TOEFL.
  • I sent my official transcripts through courier. That was it for the admission process and I got admit in May, 2023. Everything after that was smooth.

Fees

  • Its around 2700 per subject. You can complete 10 subjects. Fees is charged semester wise according to how many subjects you select.
    Monthly expenses:
    Rent+Utilities: 570
    Grocery and others: 100
  • There are many apartments located right in front of the university and hence there is no transport charge as such if you live in those apartments.
  • Apart from those apartments, you will be required to purchase an electric cycle which most people purchase if they stay far away. For buses, currently we have an offer where we get the bus travel free in out area.

Scholarship

  • No, there are no scholarships as such at the time of admissions.
  • Although I have seen some student get scholarships if they are active in the college communities and they typically get around 1000-2000 scholarships. But this is rare. Since the fees amount is too low as compared to other universities, they don't provide scholarships much. Around 4-5 people would get scholarships in a year(not sure).
