Course Curriculum

8

  • The Information Technology Management (ITM) major at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is part of the Lubar College of Business, offering a robust curriculum designed to prepare students for dynamic careers in technology-driven industries.
  • This program combines foundational business knowledge with advanced IT skills, enabling students to bridge the gap between business strategy and technological solutions. The average students are 30 and 14 Indian students enrolled in our class.

Admission Experience

  • I have applied to ?ve universities. They are University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, George Mason University, New York Institute of Technology, Clark University, and University of Illinois-Spring?eld. And I got admits from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Clark University, and New York Institute of Technology. And I got rejects from George Mason University and University of Illinois-Spring?eld. I think my pro?le is not that much good for those universities like George Mason and University of Illinois-Spring?eld.I have written IELTS exam, and I got a band of 7 out of 9. And also, I think GRE is needed for those universities like George Mason and University of Illinois Spring?eld. So, I got rejects from those two universities.
  • I chose the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee because I got a scholarship of $4,000 and also Dean's Non-Residential Scholarship worth $3,000. So, I chose this university and also the fees is low when compared to the other universities to which I got accepted. After writing my IELTS exam, I have started my admission process for this university. I have uploaded all the necessary documents. I got my decision in less than 20 days. The overall admission experience is good and the process is very smooth.
  • I have applied for the fall 2024 intake and the admissions process is very smooth and it took like 4 months. The Fall 2024 intake at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) offers an excellent opportunity for students to join a diverse and vibrant academic community. Applications are open for undergraduate, graduate, and international students, with deadlines varying by program. To ensure a smooth process, it’s recommended to apply early, as this increases chances of admission and access to scholarships.

Faculty

10

  • The education system in US is totally different when compared to India. Here the faculty-to-student ratio is 17:1 in our college. And we have a lot of time with our professor.
  • We can ask questions and have doubts in classes. This is very important to clarify your doubts.
  • There are many good professors in our college. Admired faculty members are Derek Nazareth, Hubert Morris, and Deepak Kuttibabu.

Campus Life

8

  • UWM provides a wide range of facilities to support student life and academic success. The university’s libraries are equipped with extensive resources, study spaces, and access to cutting-edge research materials. The state-of-the-art gym offers fitness equipment, classes, and recreational activities to promote health and well-being. Moreover, research labs at UWM are designed to foster innovation, with advanced technology and tools that allow students to engage in hands-on learning and contribute to groundbreaking projects. Together, these facilities ensure that students have access to the resources they need to excel academically, stay healthy, and engage in a vibrant campus community.

Part Time Jobs

  • We have a lot of part-time opportunities, both in-campus and off campus. But doing an off-campus job is very illegal, and there are highly chances of deportation. Coming to the part-time job, you can apply to Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant. The pay range for TA and RA is like 14 USD per hour. And also, when you got selected as Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant, there is a concession of 30% fee waiver on your semester fees. Maximum work hours allowed per week is 20.
  • My hourly earning is 11 USD. Most of the Indian students do on-campus part-time jobs. For international students, there is a limit of 20 hours for doing an on-campus job. It is very easy to secure on-campus part-time employment at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Most of the Indians work at Sandburg Cafe. It is very easy to get into it. You just apply in the Handshake portal. I applied to it two months before coming to US and my interview completed very smoothly in India only. Since I came to the US, I have directly started my on-campus part-time job at Sandburg Cafe. I work as a cashier at Sandburg Cafe.

Placement

10

  • Full-time job opportunities for students, especially after graduation, are an important step toward building a career. In the U.S., international students on F-1 visas can pursue full-time employment through Optional Practical Training (OPT) or Curricular Practical Training (CPT). These programs allow students to gain work experience related to their field of study. After graduation, students may also explore opportunities under the H-1B visa sponsorship.
  • Full-time roles vary across industries, depending on one’s field of study. For example, IT and engineering graduates often find roles as software developers, analysts, or engineers, while business graduates pursue careers in management, finance, or marketing. Universities like UWM offer career services, job fairs, and networking events to connect students with potential employers.
  • Building a strong resume, gaining relevant skills, and networking with professionals in the industry are key to securing a full-time job. Many companies value the global perspective international students bring to their teams, making it a mutually beneficial opportunity.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I live off-campus. I live in an apartment and the search process for getting this accommodation is very smooth. I joined some of the WhatsApp groups and the accommodation is available so I reached out to those people. My monthly rent is $300 and for groceries and all, it's another $300 so my monthly expenses are around.
  • $600, and there's so many facilities like AC, heater, and gym in my apartment. I don't feel like there is any challenge in securing an accommodation. Most of the students stay
off-campus. Staying on campus is very, very costly. Yeah, my apartment is very near the UWM campus. Popular locations for Indian students are Sheridan, Bradford, and Villagers Apartments.

Exams

  • Admission Process:
    • Online Application: Start by completing the UWM application through the university’s portal or the Common Application. Include all required personal and academic details.

Events

10

  • Only one and Diwali is celebrated very well and it is a major festival celebrated here at UWM. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) actively embraces cultural diversity by celebrating significant festivals like Diwali, the festival of lights. This celebration highlights UWM’s commitment to inclusivity and cultural awareness, offering a platform for students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds to come together and appreciate traditions. Diwali events at UWM often include vibrant cultural performances, traditional Indian music and dance, delicious food, and festive decorations that create a welcoming atmosphere. These celebrations not only foster a sense of belonging for international students but also provide opportunities for others to learn about Indian culture and heritage.

Fees

  • Coming to my fee structure, my total I-20 amount is $30,000 for one year. And also in my ?rst semester, I paid $16,227 and in my second semester, I will be paying $16,525. And as I said earlier, I got a scholarship amount and I will be doing my master's in three semesters.
  • In my third semester, I am going to pay just $7,000 because in my ?rst semester, I took like four subjects and in my second semester, I took ?ve subjects and in my third semester, I am going to take one subject so I will be paying just $7,000.
  • And coming to my monthly expense, I live off-campus. I live in an apartment. For my combined monthly expenses, it will be around $600.

Scholarship

  • I got a scholarship amount of 6,000 USD. Yeah, there are so many scholarships available for my course, and most of the students get the Dean's Non-Residential Scholarship, which is around $3,000. In your ?rst semester, you will get $1,500, and if you get a CGPA of 3.5 or above in your ?rst semester, you are eligible to get another $1,500 in your second semester.
