What Students Say
Likes
- The campus atmosphere and amenities. The natural beauty and recreation center is also amazing here along with vibrant downtown and library. The university building is beautiful
Dislikes
- Budget cuts and extreme financial issues that make it hard to ask for money to pursue any activity like conference or poster contests etc. it also makes it difficult to find graduate assistant or teaching assistant jobs on campus.
4 LORs, 1 SOP and full CV. No interview. Has to apply through a portal called SOPHAS My husband has a job in this city and it was the most convenient for me
Course Curriculum
The course syllabus was excellent, with lots of opportunities for learning a variety of things. Research experience wasn’t the best and it was hard to find relevant research exposure to attend conferences or publish papers.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is good but many professors are leaving because of huge budget cuts. Dr. Ruchi Bhandari is one who left a huge impact on me
Campus Life
Campus life is great. Vibrant Indian community and lots of extracurricular activities and sports. Excellent Rec center too
Placement
Usually, everyone gets a job or post-doc, but you have to work for it. They don’t come to recruit you, and you have to job hunt aggressively.
Accommodation
Very low cost of living here in Morgantown, WV. Many options to rent.
Exams
-GRE and TOEFL. GRE verbal score 165/170, Quant score 152/170. TOEFL 117/120 and writing score 6/6 -Interviews: No, but SOPHAS asked a variety of questions during the application. I also made my SOP very specific to my area of research interest. -Overall experience was good, but recently, the budget cuts have made it a terrible place. We lost our Dean and many good professors. Till They financially recover; WVU is not a good college to come to, especially for international students, due to lack of funding and the department is very bad about offering money for conferences, etc.
