What Students Say?

- University of Minnesota, ranked amongst Top 20 University in the United States and there aid package plus the location drove me to choose the university. They have one of the most diverse campus across all 5 of them, with majors so unique and real world use, there was no doubt in my mind to choose this university in particular and go with their international business program.
- One of the safest and most well-preserved with diverse student body campuses in all of the United States. All resources are provided and explained how to and where to utilise them to the most.
Dislikes
- The campus is a little far from the cities, which may not be a big Yikes since there are transportation available for free, and paid as well. Good opportunity to earn money while on campus but still not enough, since mostly goes to the Work-Study program funds, which is for Domestic Students only.
So far as an freshman, I got to make some friends for life and experiences beyond of what I could of with traditional upbringing and to be dependency on my own self has definitely molded me into a better version with time and I am happy and grateful for this.
Course Curriculum
As a freshman coming from an Indian curriculum, I'd say it's in an Intermediate mode so far although hearing my seniors; it takes a pace from the second year and to not be fogged by the illusion of an easy curriculum, in regards to it is still on a good pace, understandable, and very much practical.
Exams
I took SAT, but it is not required. TOEFL/IELTS: 6 band at least, Duolingo English Test: 135 and above. For UMN, I submitted the following: 1 SOP: About my Extracurricular and it's impact on life and academics, followed by how important is it to maintain a balance and make an impact on societal issue at the same time, and how I was gonna use Universities resource to further my venture. LOR: 2 Teacher, 1 Counsellor, 1 Supervisor (Not required, Optional)
Placement
It depends on the major, but mostly it's around 80k to 160k for regular business adm major. And it has 75% placement each year for business department.
Fees
13,536 USD for the whole year tuition.
Scholarship
There is no scholarship for the first year undergrad, but when you get above 3.0 gpa, you receive 50% off on your tuition which is already affordable if you accepted, at 13,000 USD.
Faculty
The faculty ratio in my campus out of all the UMN system campuses is the best, it is at 12:1 faculty-to-student ratio and each of them is well qualified, driven to help and educate students, and definitely wants to help international students being considerate our curriculum and practices are completely different and varies student to student.
Campus Life
If I had to describe the campus life in one word- Happening. There is always something you can take part in, to relax for, and always an escape from the academic pressure if there is anything: Happening.
Hostel
There are always, no matter what university it is, options available as to be a shared or single, apartment or dormitory, traditional and modern. The prices vary as well, so it's mostly on the comfort and finances your choice of residential hall depends on.
