Required Exams for Admission
University of Iowa is one of the best college in US for international students in US. We have 2nd best writing program in country which allows us to get the reviews and feedback in our writing material from the best.
Course Curriculum
First year was courses and lab rotations which have basic knowledge of my field and chance to choose the lab of my interest.
Faculty
My program is interdisciplinary so have more faculty than students. Faculties are approachable and nice.
Campus Life
A lot of campus activities to do, Iowa City is known for the best college town so that says it all.
Placement
Pretty good. most students from my program goes in industry so median salary would be 90,000$ per year after PhD.
Accommodation
University dorms are not available for grad students. You need to find housing on your own which will cost you 300-1000$ but Iowa City is very affordable so this is comparatively cheaper than other cities in US.
Exams
IELTS, GRE required and Minimum GPA requirements. My score IELTS 7.5, GRE waived off due to COVID reasons. CV/ SoP/ LoR, applications are mostly selected on the basis of CV and SOP so focus on these two docs. Yes, I had one round of interview with program director, grad school director and administrative staff. The interview was mainly oriented around my experience and passion for the field I'm planning to join.
Fees
Tuition fees is funded by program or your mentor so don't worry about that. There's international fees of 125$ that needs to be paid every semester.
