Bachelor of Arts [B.A] [Education Studies - Middle Grades Mathematics, 5-9] From Berea College

Candidates who meet the requirements for the major will complete the program below in nine (9) terms, including completion of the pre-professional term (eighth term) and Student Teaching (ninth term). No other courses may be taken during the Student Teaching term. Candidates must also meet all criteria for admission into, and completion of this Teacher Education Program (TEP), including the required admission Written Assessment and the Exit Portfolio.

Since Berea College is a liberal arts college, all students engage in courses and experiences in general studies. These courses are especially important for those who wish to teach because they develop teachers’ general knowledge of the world, enhance their ability to make connections across disciplines, strengthen their capacity to look at questions from multiple perspectives, and develop the habits of critical, creative, and reflective inquiry.
