Why study?

Thailand has undergone a radical economic, political and social transformation in the past few decades. The Thai Studies programme at the University of Leeds will allow you to develop Thai language skills while discovering the cultural, political and historical context of this unique country.

YouÕll be introduced to Thai culture in core modules, which will also build your spoken and written language skills. We teach Thai from beginnersÕ level, but if you have some prior knowledge we can usually accommodate your needs.

A wide variety of optional modules will also give you the chance to explore the topics that interest you Ð covering more elements of Thai culture, or exploring other topics across South East Asia and the Asia Pacific region as a whole. YouÕll even spend a year at a university in the country so you can get a real sense of life in Thailand.

Leeds is one of EuropeÕs biggest centres for East Asian Studies, so we can offer flexible degrees that give you a genuine insight into the communities of this fascinating region.
