The BSc Physics programme from the University of Leeds aims to produce graduates with the thorough knowledge of Physics, transferable skills and attitudes that will enable them to fulfil their career aspirations. Lectures, practical teaching and learning laboratories, personal tutorials and exercise classes, combine to give a stimulating and challenging course covering key aspects of physics.

Students gain a broad knowledge of the subject, with a range of specialist topics linked to the research interests of the School. Everyone on the course undertakes an independent project or significant piece of research work in an area of interest, so that they develop an understanding of the scientific research process.

The course can be studied in 3 years for a BSc degree. You can also choose to spend an additional year working in industry or studying at a university abroad.

The industrial placement scheme gives you the opportunity to gain work experience in an industry relevant to your degree. Our students often describe this industrial experience as an invaluable part of their degree and one which stands them in good stead for their future careers.

The study abroad year enables you to gain insight into the study of physics in a partner university overseas. Many students have found this programme to be extremely worthwhile in helping broaden their horizons in terms of learning about a new culture and also improving their foreign language skills.
