This Psychology with Counselling programme from the University of Greenwich provides a BPS-accredited degree that focuses on the core areas of psychology, while also providing students with the fundamentals of counselling practice and theory. Psychology seeks to understand mind and behaviour through experimentation, observation and measurement.

This includes the study of perception, attention, memory and emotion in adults and children; the development of language, behaviour, personality and thought in children; the biological processes that underpin behaviour; and the causes and treatment of abnormal behaviour. Counselling seeks to provide help to individual who are distressed or experiencing emotional difficulties at work or in relationships, and the degree covers the theories that underpin the practice and the skills required to be a counsellor.

Students are introduced to the core areas of psychology and counselling, as well as receiving a strong grounding in psychological research methods. The research methods component focuses on learning about how psychological research is conducted, analysed and reported through a series of guided-learning exercises, culminating in an independent research project in the final year.Ê
